Apply In Person

  1. To Register as Tour Operator, the applicant has to approach the UGANDA TOURISM BOARD link
  2. Choose a unique business name for the applicant’s tour operator company and register it with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB). This is the first step towards legalizing his/her business.
  3. Decide on the legal structure of his/her business, such as sole proprietorship, partnership, or limited liability company.
  4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  9. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  12. Then the application will be processed further.
  13. They might conduct an inspection of the applicant’s facilities and services before granting the license.
  14. Upon completing, the officer will issue the license to the applicant.
  15. This entire process can be completed within 6 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

The applicant is eligible to register as a tour operator in Uganda if the applicant meets the following requirements:

  • The applicant must be a Ugandan citizen or a legal resident of Uganda.
  • The applicant must have a valid business registration certificate from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).
  • The applicant must have a minimum of UGX 250,000 (about US$600) in paid-up capital.
  • The applicant must have a minimum of 5 employees.
  • The applicant must have a tour operating license from the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).


FeesEdit

  • The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.


ValidityEdit

  • The tour operating license is valid for 3 years. The applicant must renew his/her license every 3 years.
