  1. An institution desiring to reserve a name pending registration of an institution shall make a written application to the National Council for higher Education after reserving the name with the Registration Bureau service bureau.Visit their website on the following Link
    • The Act provides that the National Council may,on written application, reserve a name pending registration of an institution or a change of name by an existing institution.
  2. This can be done by visiting the National Council for Higher Education Offices and obtaining an Application Form to reserve name of pending institution.
  3. You will be required to pay the appropriate application fees together with the Name reservation fees and submit the payment receipt.The amount of fees to be paid can be found under the "Fees" section of this page or at NCHE registration Desk.
  4. The National council for Higher Education Board shall,on receipt of the application will carry out inspections of the institution names proposed and if satisfied that it conforms to set standards, will approve the name reservation proposed.
  5. This approval is usually for shorter period.A reserved name shall remain in force for 60 days and not exceeding 120 days during which no other institution may be registered under that name.
  6. The National council for Higher Education shall keep an eye and continue to inspect approved training institutions from time to time. The Board shall,in every five years,inspect institutions for purposes of approval.
  7. The approved name may be cancelled at any time when the Board establishes a breach of any provisions of the Regulations of the institution.

  3. the vision, mission, objectives and philosophy for which the institute is to be established;
  4. the proposed governance structure of the institute;
  5. the proposal human resources that will be required to operate the institute
  6. The expected source of financial resources;
  7. The time table indicating the steps proposed to be taken towards the realization of the objectives of the institute and private.

  • Any institute which has reserve a name pending registration of an institution or a change of name by an existing institution is eligible.

FeesEdit

  • The Registration fees to reserve a name of an institution is 880,670.

ValidityEdit

  • The Validity period required to reserve a name of an institution is between for 60-120 days

  • All applicants who intends to reserve a name pending registration of an institution must register with National Council for higher education, and be familiar with the rules relating to higher institution of learning in Uganda

  • The reservation of name with the National Council of education serves the purpose of regulating the names used by universities such that no university has a name that contains two words as another university for clarity in their identification
