Procedure

Apply In-person

• Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA),under Section 6 (2) of the CAA Act Cap. 354 is responsible for the licensing of air transport services.

1. To renew your Air Service license in Uganda, one has to make a formal application with the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.You can visit their website on the following Link Uganda Civil aviation Authority
2. An application for renewal of Air Service license shall be made in writing to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and shall be accompanied by the prescribed particulars or form , where no particulars have been prescribed.
3. Dully filled form should be accompanied by the required documents.
4. The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority shall ensure that sufficient document submitted by the applicant comply with good Air service practices and national standards on quality, food safety and hygiene.
5. The airlines Must be prepared to defended their license renewal applications before the UCAA board licensing committee at head offices in Entebbe.
6. The UCAA before granting a renewal shall ensure that all operators in the aviation industry are properly certificated in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and recommended practices to enable them to continue operating.
7. Before granting renewal, License the Board shall make sure
   • That the applicant is conversant with what he/she is applying for, they invite the applicant, take him through the process, and tell him the requirements.
   • The application is in the prescribed renewal form or, where no renewal form has been prescribed, the minister shall determine the renewal form and the conditions.
   • That the applicant has the adhered to the UCCA standards to carry out Aviation operation business for which the license is required;
   • That the applicant for renewal has the necessary e competent staff and management capacity to continue to carry on the business of Aviation operation.
8. Once your renewal application is approved you will receive communication to proceed to pay the required fees and payment details.
9. The fee is payable only after the board has vetted and approved by the renewal request.
10. Proceed to make the payment for renewal. The amount of fees to be paid can be found under the "Fees" section of this page, the approval payment shall also be sent to your email address.
11. Once the proof of payment is verified a copy of the renewal Air service Licence shall be granted within 30 days after submitting the application and required documents.

5. Business Plan (New applicant)
6. Certificate of Incorporation (New applicant)

9. Any other additional document to support the renewal application.
10. All copies of attached documents should be certified by an advocate/commissioner for oaths

Eligibility

A person who:

1. Intends to renew any air service;
2. Intends to continue with an air service whose license is due to expire;
3. wishes to vary the terms or conditions specified on the license;
4. Is deemed by the Authority to have made significant changes that have a significant bearing on the finances or control of the air carrier should apply to the Authority for a license renewal.

Fees

• Renewal License fee US $ 1,500.

Validity

• The renewal license is valid for a period of one year.

Required Information

1. Name of applicant
2. Business address of applicant
3. If the applicant is a company (registered office, company registration no, date of incorporation, operating or business name and address of correspondence)
4. Nationality of applicant
5. State the type of service applied for (i.e. whether scheduled air service, non- scheduled air service, aerial work service, flying instructions, etc.)
6. List all other air services operated by the applicant at the time of this application and give the relevant license numbers
7. Enumerate particulars of working arrangements that the applicant has with any other company operating an air service
8. Financial particulars
9. Staffing, organization and Ugandanization of company
10. Terms and conditions of employment in the company
11. Particulars of any experience of air transport operations or any other relevant experience of the directors and senior management employees of the company
12. Aircraft and equipment (state the aircraft which you employed or intend to employ on air services applied for giving particulars)
13. Liability for loss or damage information for previous period.
14. Declaration

Need for the Document

1. This allows application/ certificate allows the authority to regulate activities of maintenance organizations.
2. It also allows the applicant to continue engaging in Air Service in Uganda
3. The process is designed to ensure that prospective holder of the Air Service Licence to fully be aware of the applicable Regulations, has satisfied all the requirements and is capable of fulfilling and maintaining the approval standards.

• In respect of air carriers of other States, the Authority may accept as sufficient evidence, the production of licenses, certificates and documents issued by competent authorities in the States of origin regarding the competence, technical and financial fitness of the air carriers
