Uganda - Register as a Veterinary Surgeon

Apply In-Person
- To register as a Veterinary Surgeon, the applicant has to contact/visit the Uganda Veterinary Board offices to make the application.
- Here you will be issued with an application form which you have to fill and submit.
- The application form can also be down loaded from their website through the following link.
- The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful.
- A list of these documents can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page or at UVB registration requirements page.
- Submit the completed application form and required documents.
- Proceed to pay the appropriate fees and submit the payment receipt. The amount of fees to be paid can be found under the "Fees" section of this page or at UVB registration fees page.
- On Completion of this process, the applicant will receive the written confirmation within seven (7) days after the Board's approval.
Required DocumentsEdit
For one to be registered as a Veterinary Surgeon, the following requirements must be met:-
- Valid degree certificate in Veterinary Medicine and surgery from a UVB recognized institution.
- Sworn the professional oath as prescribed by Veterinary ACT or Swear an affidavit with a Notary Public lawyer
- Provide Proof of a 12 month successful professional internship.
- Provide proof of membership of a professional association.
- A Filled in Application form for registration.
- Paid application fee receipt.

EligibilityEdit
A person shall be qualified to be registered as a veterinary surgeon if he/she:-
- Is a citizen of Uganda
- holds a degree in veterinary medicine from a university recognized in Uganda, and has after such qualification served an internship of not less than twelve months under a veterinary surgeon with not less than five years’ standing; and
- Is a member of a registered professional association representing the interests of veterinary surgeons

The registration validity is forever, however one has to renew the practice license fees annually.

Need for the DocumentEdit
One cannot practice as a Veterinary Surgeon in Uganda unless they have applied for registration with the Uganda Veterinary Board and have a valid practicing License as a veterinary surgeon.
Information which might helpEdit
Any person who practices veterinary medicine or surgery without having been registered by The Board commits an offence and shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding one hundred thousand shillings or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months,or to both.
Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
