Apply In-Person

  1. Application for registration for dealing in Tobacco growing in a declared growing area is done in person by visiting the commissioner for tobacco control in the Ministry of Agriculture and fisheries head offices.You can also visit the Ministry's website on the following link Ministry of Agriculture
  2. Here you will be issued with an application form for registration as Tobacco grower to fill and submit.
  3. Fill in the required information properly and attach the required documents to the application before.
  4. Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee of Ugsh.690,583 and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
  5. This is followed by verification of Tobacco growing area by the commissioner for Tobacco control from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
  6. Recommendations based in findings of the investigation will be made to the Crops inspection officer(s) for final Authority approval.
  7. At this point, the applicant is notified if the applicant has been successfully accepted to grow Tobacco or which rectifications have to be made in order for Tobacco grower to be registered.
  8. Upon a successful approval, the applicant is notified and he/she will be required to pay the Registration fee to the Ministry and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
  9. Once the registration process is done, the Cotton growers’ registration certificate is issued to the applicant.

Information which might helpEdit

  • Under section 3 of the Act, any person who wishes to grow tobacco for sale in an area declared to be a growing area shall apply to be registered as a grower in accordance with regulations made for that purpose under the Act.
  • The Minister may, on the advice of the Commissioner, by statutory instrument, declare any area of land to be a growing area. Further, no person shall grow tobacco for sale in an area other than in an area declared under subsection (1) to be a growing area.
