Uganda - Obtain Suitability Certificate to Operate a Pharmacy

ProcedureEdit

  1. All applicant for new pharmacies retail and wholesale shall apply for certificate of suitability of premises to operate a retail and wholesale pharmacy from Municipal Council Authority near your Location.
  2. Fill up the appropriate application form as described by the Municipal council.
  3. After filling the form proceed to pay the prescribed fee.
  4. Collect your suitability certificate to operate a pharmacy from where your application was submitted within a day from the date the application was received at municipality in case there is no rejection.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Dully filled application form for certificate of suitability of premises.
  • Dully filled application form for the Licence.
  • Evidence of payment of prescribed fees.
  • Memorandum and articles of association in case of a body *corporate and partnership deed in case of partnership.
  • Evidence that one of the director in the company is a pharmacist.
  • A Sketch plan of the premises taking into place the consideration the minimum floor area for wholesale, retail and additional storage area.
  • Certified copy of the certificate of registration of the supervising pharmacist.
  • Commitment letters from the supervising pharmacist and professional auxiliary staff.
  • Certificate copy of a valid certificate of registration/enrollment with the relevant professional body for the professional auxiliary.
  • For wholesale/retail pharmacy (veterinary) a copy of certificate of the qualified veterinary profession.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any person of 18 years carrying out a pharmacy business in Municipality/Division/Town/City/Kampala City Council Authority’s jurisdiction.
  • Except those who are exempted under Section 8(2) of the Trade Licensing Act are eligible to obtain suitability certificate to operate a pharmacy.

Inspection for suitability Central division 1,070,000/=
Application for a Licence Other division 652,500/=

Fees for Wholesale Pharmacy outside Kampala
