Uganda - Obtain License For Processed Fish (Dried/Smoked)

ProcedureEdit

  1. Licence or Permit for by-products and processed fish (Dried/Smoked) can be obtained from Directorate of Fish resources under the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industries and Fisheries.
  2. Prepare the necessary background and relevant information then fill up the appropriate application form as described by the Ministry of Agriculture Animal industries and Fisheries.
  3. After filling the form proceed to pay the prescribed fee.
  4. Submit the dully filled in form attached with pay slip to the Health Officer in charge of Fish and Animal products in the area in which the By-products and processed fish processing plant is located. The health inspector office shall carryout inspection on the premises and safety of the by-product and processed fish.
  5. Ensure that the application fee is submitted and all required information is included with application.
  6. Collect your By-product and Processed fish Licence certificate from where your application was submitted within 7 days from the date the application was received at Ministry of Agriculture Animal industries and Fisheries in case there is no rejection.
  7. In case of local, the permit/Licence can be directly collected from Town clerk of the Municipality or Division/City Authority. In case of international, regional and National markets the by-products and processing Licence can be collected from Ministry of Agriculture Animal industries and Fisheries under the department of fisheries resources.

EligibilityEdit

All individuals and agencies dealing in the distribution pattern of by product fish and dry fish products for international, regional and local markets for either home consumption or Export activities in Uganda are eligible for this Licence.

FeesEdit

  • Application Fees: 10,000 Ugshs
  • License Fee: 500,000 Ugshs
  • Renewal Fee: 500,000 Ugshs


ValidityEdit

A Licence issued under this Act is valid for one year and expire on 31 December every year.
