Maharashtra - Register a Fishing Craft or Vessel

Apply In-Person:
- Applicants must visit the offices or sub-offices of Department of Fisheries in your respective districts to apply for “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration”. [Refer to the “Office Location and Contacts” section of the page for the address details.]
- Collect the “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration” form from the office of fisheries.
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
- Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.
- The verification officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
- Collect the acknowledgement/receiving slip and keep it safe for future reference.
- Next, you will get a call from the Fishery Officer/Authorized Officer for technical inspection of the fishing craft or vessel.
- The authorities will arrive at the site on the said date and time to inspect the fishing craft or vessel.
- After the inspection, the concerned authority will forward the inspection report to the verification officer.
- If the verification authority is satisfied with the report then the registration certificate will be processed.
- Once it is processed, and the registration certificate is ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.
- The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip along with them when going to collect the registration certificate from the office or sub-office of the Department of Fisheries of their respective district.
Apply In-Person (Via Port of Registry)
- Application for the registration of the fishing craft or vessel can be made to the Registrars of the Indian fishing boat appointed by the Government of India at the ports of registry nearest to the place where the craft or vessel owner resides or where the fishing boat is built or based. [Refer to the “Office Location and Contacts” section of the page for the address details.]
- Government of India has notified the following ports as the port of registry: Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Cochin and Mormugao.
- Collect the “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration” form from the office of the registrar.
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
- Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.
- The verification officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
- Collect the acknowledgement/receiving slip and keep it safe for future reference.
- Next, you will get a call from the Fishery Officer/Authorized Officer for technical inspection of the fishing craft or vessel.
- The authorities will arrive at the site on the said date and time to inspect the fishing craft or vessel.
- After the inspection, the concerned authority will forward the inspection report to the verification officer.
- If the verification authority is satisfied with the report then the registration certificate will be processed.
- Once it is processed, and the registration certificate is ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.
- The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip along with them when going to collect the registration certificate from the office of the registrar at the port of registry.
Apply In-Person (Via Aaple Sarkar Sewa Kendra)
- Applicants must visit the Aaple Sarkar Sewa Kendra in your respective districts for “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration”. Contact Details. To know about your nearest Aaple Sarkar Sewa Kendra, Select your “District” and “Taluk” from the drop-down list and click on “Proceed”.
- Collect the “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration” form from the Sewa Kendra.
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Check the application form and then submit it to the data entry operator.
- Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.
- After physical verification of the application form and the documents, the data entry officer will enter the data and upload the documents in the ‘Aaple Sarkar’ Portal and submit it. Aaple Portal
- Data operator will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
- Collect the acknowledgement/receiving slip and keep it safe for future reference.
- Once the operator submits the application in the portal, it will directly go to the verification officer.
- Next, you will get a call from the Fishery Officer/Authorized Officer for technical inspection of the fishing craft or vessel.
- The authorities will arrive at the site on the said date and time to inspect the fishing craft or vessel.
- After the inspection, the concerned authority will forward the inspection report to the verification officer.
- If the verification authority is satisfied with the report then the registration certificate will be processed.
- Once it is processed, and the registration certificate is ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.
- You can also check the application status online from the Aaple Sarkar portal. Aaple Sarkar
- Click on the “Track Your Application” from the left side of the webpage.
- Now from the first drop-down select “Department of Animal Husbandary, Dairy Development and Dairies”, select “Department of Fisheries” from the second drop-down, and select “Fishing License for Fishing Vessel”.
- In the textbox below the drop-down lists, enter the “Application ID” mentioned in the acknowledgement/receiving slip and click on the “Go” button.
- The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip along with them when going to collect the registration certificate from the Aaple Sarkar Sewa Kendra or can download the license by logging into the Aaple Sarkar Portal. Once the license is ready, the license will be available on the dashboard for download.
Apply In-Person ( Via RealCraft)
- Applicants must visit the offices or sub-offices of Department of Fisheries in your respective districts “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration”. [Refer to the “Office Location and Contacts” section of the page for the address details.]
- Collect the “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration” form from the office of fisheries.
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Check the application form and then submit it to the data entry operator.
- Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.

- The authorities will arrive at the site on the said date and time to inspect the fishing craft or vessel.
- After the inspection, the concerned authority will forward the inspection report to the verification officer.
- If the verification authority is satisfied with the report then the registration certificate will be processed.
- Once it is processed, and the registration certificate is ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.
- You can also check the application status online by clicking on the following link: Application Satus. To know the application status, type the “File Number” and Press “Ok” or you can select the “Company Name” from the drop-down list and then type the “Engine Number” and click on “Ok”.
- The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip along with them when going to collect the registration certificate from the office or sub-office of the Department of Fisheries of their respective district.
Apply Online (Via -Aaple Sarkar Portal)
- Visit the official website of Aaple Sarkar for “Registration of Fishing Craft or Vessel”. Aaple Sarkar Portal
- If you are a registered user in Aaple Sarkar portal then directly log into your account by entering the credentials and by selecting the district on the log-in section.
- If you are a new user then click on “ New User? Register Here” to register yourself in the Aaple Sarkar Portal.
- In the new page choose between “Option 1” or “Option 2” to register as a user.
- Now fill in all the details required and complete the registration by clicking on “Register” button.
- After successful registration, log into the account by entering the credentials and by selecting the district on the log-in section.
- Once you log in, click on “Department of Animal Husbandary, Dairy Development and Dairies” from the options given on the left side of the dashboard.
- After clicking, a drop-down list named “Sub Department” will appear, from which select “Department of Fisheries”.
- After selecting, a few options will appear in the dashboard, from which select “ Fishing Vessel Registration” and click on the “Proceed” button.
- Once you click on “Proceed”, you will be redirected to the application form.
- In the top of the application form select “New” and then completely fill up all the required details.
- Upload the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section and click on “Submit”.
- Now pay the required application fee.
- After paying the application fee, take the printout of the receipt generated.
- Now the application will be processed further internally by the concerned authorities.
- Next, you will get a call from the Fishery Officer/Authorized Officer for technical inspection of the fishing craft or vessel.
- The authorities will arrive at the site on the said date and time to inspect the fishing craft or vessel.
- After the inspection, the concerned authority will forward the inspection report to the verification officer.
- If the verification authority is satisfied with the report then the registration certificate will be processed.
- Once it is processed, and the registration certificate is ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.

- Click on the “Track Your Application” from the left side of the webpage.

- The applicant can download the license by logging into the Aaple Sarkar Portal. Once the license is ready, the license will be available on the dashboard for download.
Note:Carry the original documents while visiting the offices and sub-offices of the Department of Fisheries to apply for “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration”.
Apply Through Mobile App
- To Register a Fishing Craft or Vessel, the applicant can make the application via RTS Maharashtra app link
- After installing the app, click on “Getting Started” and “select language” to start the application.
- Then the applicant has to click the “Fisheries” menu and select “Register a Fishing Craft or Vessel” and read the instruction and click “Apply”.
- Next the applicant has to enter the user ID and password and click “Login Now. If the applicant doesn’t have an account the applicant can click on “Register Now” and register an account.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Review the application and click “Submit”
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be displayed. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
- All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The applicant can check the status of the application by clicking on “Track” menu by entering the department and application ID.

- Details about the application fee for the registration of fishing craft or vessel shall be provided by the licensing officer.
- Applicants applying via Real Craft can also check the fee structure online by clicking on the following link: Fee Structure. To know the fee structure, select your “State” from the drop-down menu, select “Vessel Registration” from the drop-down list named “Name of Services” and then select the appropriate “Vessel Category” from the drop-down list named “Category” and click on “Ok”. To know more detailed information on fees, you can also provide the “Hull Length”, “Horse Power”, and the “Gross Tonnage Capacity” in the respective text field and then click on “Ok”.

- Before applying for the registration certificate of the fishing craft or vessel, the owner shall decide a name for it. If the name proposed by the owner is the same or similar to any other Indian Fishing boat that is already registered at the port of registry, the registrar may ask the owner to suggest some other name under which the fishing boat may be registered.
- It is mandatory to paint the name of the port of registry, the registered name of the fishing vessel and the official number of the fishing vessel mentioned in the registration certificate on both quarters of the fishing craft or vessel near the stern.
- It should be written in English, Hindi as well as in the regional language in white colour against a black background.
- The font size shall be such as the registrar may determine in each case but shall not be less than one decimetre in height and two centimetres in width.
- The names and the official number shall also be painted on the dinghies attached to the fishing boat.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The government of India provides various aids to the fishermen and their families which can be availed only by having the registration certificate and license of fishing craft or vessel.
- The government of India provides various upliftment programs such as education quota, employment opportunities, and various welfare schemes to fishermen and their families on the basis of the registration certificate and license of fishing craft or vessel.

- Where an application for the registry of an Indian Fishing boat is pending before a registrar of Indian fishing boat due to certain circumstances and the registrar is of the opinion that the fishing boat should not be detained at the port till the issue of the certificate of registry, he may issue a provisional certificate of registry.
- The validity of the provisional certificate of registration is three months from the date of issue. However, if the registrar finds that in the circumstances of the case, it is necessary to extend the validity of the provisional certificate, he/she may extend it for a further of two months.
