Procedure

Apply Online

1. To Change Name BESCOM Electricity Bill or Meter, the applicant has to make the application online via link
2. Once you reach the portal, select the "Login" option on the top right of the webpage and choose "Customer Login".
3. This would take you to the login page. If you are an already existing user enter the login credentials, Captcha and click "Login". If you are a new user, please select "Click Here to Register" and enter all the requested information to to register yourself and then login.
4. Once logged in look for service "Name Change" and select it to proceed with the application.
5. The applicant has to enter all the details in the application form.
6. And tick the “I accept” undertaking to pay any outstanding dues/short claims arise or detected at later stage, periods prior to the date of transfer.
7. Now, upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
8. After completing with all the details click the “submit” button.
9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
11. Once the name change is processed, the applicant will receive a confirmation or acknowledgment from BESCOM indicating the successful name change.
12. If the name change also involves changing the meter's ownership, BESCOM will update their records accordingly.
13. If there are any outstanding dues or pending bills, make sure to settle them before or during the name change process.
14. This entire process can be completed within 1 -2 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Apply In-Person

1. Go to the local BESCOM office personally to apply for Electricity (EB) Meter name transfer.

3. Applicant shall be able to obtain the form from the respective office.
4. Once the application is filled, then submit it along with required document to the concerned authorities at the respective office.
5. Authorities will verify the submitted documents, If all the documents are in place then authorities will advise the customer to pay the fee for this procedure.
6. Once the payment is made, a receipt will be issued to the applicant.
7. This application will be subjected for internal processing and a technician will visit the premises as per the address mentioned in the application.
8. Once the result of technician visit is also satisfactory, the Electricity (EB) Meter name transfer will be processed to reflect the applicants name in the records.
