Andhra Pradesh - Apply to Withdraw Money from EPF Account Due to COVID-19

Apply In-Person:
- To apply for EPF withdrawal in person, the applicant has to visit any nearest office of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) in his/her state of residence. The address and contact details of branch offices across the country can be found in the following link: Address Details
- Visit the office and get an application form for EPF withdrawal or download it from the links provided below.
- Employees who have linked their Aadhaar number and bank account with their UAN can submit their claim in the new composite claim form with the respective jurisdictional EPFO’s office. The Aadhaar-based form should be self-certified, but does not require attestation by the employer. Click on the link to Download Aadhaar-based Form
- In the case of employees who have not linked their Aadhaar number and bank account with their UAN, the claim has to be made in the new composite claim form (Non-Aadhaar). The form should be self-certified and also requires attestation by the employer. Click on the link to Download Non-Aadhaar based Form
- Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections.
- Submit the PAN and a cancelled cheque along with the application for processing the amount into the bank account.
- The amount of withdrawal will be directly credited to the member’s bank account.
- To track the claim status, visit Link and click on “Online Services” and select “Track claim status” from the drop down menu.
Apply Online
- To apply for EPF withdrawal online, go to EPF Portal to access the Member e-Sewa portal.
- Enter the UAN, password, and captcha code to access the members account.
- Select “Claim” from the “Online Services” menu.
- A new webpage with all of the applicant’s information, including name, date of birth, and the last four digits of the applicant’s Aadhaar number, will be displayed on screen.
- The applicant will be asked to input their bank account number on the website.
- Enter the account number and click on “Verify” button.
- A pop-up asking the applicant to provide a “Certificate of undertaking” will appear on screen.
- After validating the bank account number, click on “Proceed”.
- Select “PF advance (Form 31)” and choose “Outbreak of pandemic (COVID-19)” as the reason for withdrawal.
- Enter the required amount, as well as the scanned copy of the cheque and the address.
- An OTP will be delivered to the mobile number associated with the Aadhaar account.
- Enter the OTP received via SMS.
- The claim request will be sent once the OTP has been properly provided.
- Only if the information match and if the claim is accepted by the EPFO will the money be credited to the applicant’s bank account.
- To check the status of the claim, the applicant can log in to their account on the Member e-Sewa portal and check the status by clicking on “Track Claim status” under the “Online Services” tab.
Apply through Umang app
- Umang App users can apply for EPF withdrawal by logging in to app.
- Tap on the “EPFO” icon.
- Select “Employee Centric Services”.
- Select the option “Raise Claim”.
- Enter your UAN details and click on “Get OTP” to get one-time password to login in your account.
- Enter the OTP and tap on “Login”.
- Once successfully logged in, the applicant must enter the last four digits of their bank account and select the member ID from the drop down menu.
- Click on “Proceed for claim”.
- The applicant will be required to enter their address. Click on “Next” once the correct details are entered.
- Upload the cheque image.
- Once all the details and required information is entered, your claim will be filed.

- A blank and cancelled cheque (IFSC code and account number should be visible). Also, you should ensure that the cheque provided by you is a single account holder cheque only.
- Note: As per new amendments in the EPF norms, you can withdraw the EPF account without the employer’s permission.

EligibilityEdit
All employees who contribute to EPF can apply for an advance from their EPF accounts. For the purpose of withdrawal, an employee must have a Universal Account Number (UAN) allotted by EPFO and must link their Aadhaar, PAN and bank account with their UAN.
To apply for the withdrawal of EPF online through the EPF portal, make sure that the following conditions are met:
- The Universal Account Number (UAN) is activated, and the mobile number used for activating the UAN is in working condition.
- The UAN is linked with your KYC, i.e. Aadhaar, PAN, bank details, and the IFSC code.

Processing TimeEdit
EPFO settles claims for availing advance to fight COVID-19 pandemic within 03 working days. After processing of the claims, cheque is sent to the bank for crediting amount to bank account of the claimant. Bank usually take additional one to three working days to credit advance in your bank account.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The EPF Scheme, 195 provides for the grant of advance to members when a disaster or epidemic has been declared by the government.
- The withdrawal will provide liquidity in the hands of employees during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Information which might helpEdit
- Employees can obtain an advance from their EPF balance up to three months’ salary or wages plus dearness allowance, or 75% of the balance standing in their account, whichever is less.
- The advance is non-refundable and the employee need not deposit the money withdrawn back into their EPF account.
- There is no income-tax liability on the amount of advance an employee withdraws due to COVID-19.
