Andaman and Nicobar - Open a Fix Price Shop

Apply In-Person:
- An individual (proprietorship) or a partnership firm or a registered private company shall start a fix price shop.
- Please select a name for the establishment/shop.
- Please follow the “India - Register a Firm” procedure to get the company registered. Link for the procedure link in the given procedure, please find the appropriate provisions to register the company as per the class/type.
- Once the establishment/shop is registered, the applicant will get memorandum of association and director identification number. If required, please apply for the trademark registration too.
- Once the company is registered, please apply and obtain “GST Identification Number”.
- Please follow the “India - Register for Goods and Service Tax Identification Number (GSTIN)” procedure to get the “Goods and Service Tax Identification Number (GSTIN)”. Link for the procedure link
- The next step is to get “Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card”. Please follow the “India - How to Obtain a Permanent Account Number(PAN) Card” procedure to get the (company) “PAN”. Link for the procedure link
- Now it’s time to open a bank account for the business. Please open a bank account by visiting the respective bank of the applicant’s choice and follow their guidelines.
- Next, the applicant should get trade licence from local administration. Please follow the “India - Apply for Trade License” procedure to get the trade licence. Link for the procedure link
- With the above said processes are completed, the applicant shall visit the respective district labour department office to register the establishment.

- Please visit the respective office and consult with the designated authority about the registration process and requirements. Once the consultation is over, please collect the application form or write on an A4 sheet as advised.
- Please complete the application form. Attach all the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page along with the appropriate payment of fees as per acceptable mode (challan/DD) and submit it to the designated receiving authority as advised.
- The fees can be paid through challan/DD or as per the advised mode. Please refer to the “Fees” section of this page for more details.
- After receiving the application, the authorities will examine the application and other documents. In case of shortfall, the authority will raise the query as appropriate. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer and provide a record number for reference.
- Please keep them safe for future reference.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. So, keep track of the notification from the department.
- The department will process the application internally. The application will be forwarded to the concerned inspector (labour) in charge / the designated authority as per the jurisdiction.
- The inspector (labour) in charge / the designated authority will inspect the premises on a scheduled date to check the facts mentioned on the application and also the staffs employed.
- At the end of the inspection, the inspector (labour) in charge / the designated authority will submit the inspection report to the department.
- The issuing authority will evaluate the application details, documents and inspection report. Based on the outcome, the issuing authority will register the establishment.
- The status, viz. Approval will be conveyed to the applicant through a “SMS” or through applicable norms.
- The issuing authority will hand over (or issued as per applicable norms) the certificate.
- Now, the applicant shall apply for statutory requirements to start the operation.
- Please apply with the local authority/body, electricity board for the commercial service and water board for statutory approval.
- This entire process can be completed within 45 to 60 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

- It is advised to visit the nearby unit and get the first-hand experience on the day-to-day activities and the work flow before start investing.

- The applicant should be a citizen of India.
- Those who are 18 years and above are eligible to apply.
- A registered private limited company or a partnership company or a proprietorship company is eligible to apply for this procedure.

- The applicant shall pay the processing fee or charges as per the authorities quote while applying and don’t forget to get the receipt.
- The fee requirement for the registration of the establishment is based on the number of staffs/employees engaged in the establishment.

- The shop and establishment registration certificate granted shall be valid for 1 financial year or as notified on the licence.

- The registered establishment should not employ child labour.
- The registered establishment should follow the department regulations with respect to the working hours of each employee and the weekly off for them.
- It is compulsory that the establishment should maintain high standard of cleanliness.
- The trade licence rules and regulations vary from state to state.
- The fee structure for the issuance of the licence differs based on the nature of the business.
- The failure to comply with prerequisites of the trade licence can also result in the closure of a business.
- There will be sudden check by the civic agencies and fire and safety authorities.
- Do not submit fake documents as a proof to get registered.
- Incomplete application will be rejected.
- Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
