Following are the ways through which you can apply for new arms (gun) license or you can renew the expired arms license in Andaman and Nicobar.

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for the new arms (gun) license or to renew the expired arms license approach the Deputy Commissioner of Police of your district.
  2. Download form- A of from the below link : Form-A
  3. Make sure that you have all the proper documents mentioned in the “Required documents” section below.
  4. Submit the form to the Deputy Commissioner office along with the required documents. More details about the Deputy Commissioner office location is provided in the following link Office Location
  5. Refer the Deputy Commissioner Office location mentioned in the “Office location & contacts” section below.
  6. After the application form is processed, an enquiry officer will make a thorough verification regarding your proof which you have submitted along with the form, criminal records if any and some general investigations.
  7. You will be receiving the acknowledgment slip after the successful verification.
  8. A license with 3-year expiry period will be issued by the authority after verifying all the details submitted by the applicant.
  9. Collect your license from the regional deputy commissioner’s office where you have applied.
  10. After the expiry period, the applicant should follow the same procedure to renew the arms license.

Apply Online:

  1. To apply for an arms license online in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the applicant shall visit the following link : Link.
  2. Ensure to have the Acrobat Reader installed in the computer system before filing up the application form online.
  3. The applicant is required to fill out the application form and upload the scanned copy of necessary documents and photographs (in JPG format not exceeding 50 kb in size).
  4. After successful online submission of the application, take a printout of the application.
  5. The signed application form along with the required documents are to be submitted to the concerned issuing authority for further processing.
  6. Keep the online registration number safe for record and future reference.
  7. Concealing any material facts and/or submitting false information will lead to the cancellation of such an application.
  8. On successful verification, the applicant may collect the license from the concerned authority.

Following are the list of documents that has to be enclosed along with the application form to get new arms (gun) license

For New
For General Public:

  • Two recent Passport size photographs.
  • Recommendation Letter From the Authority
  • Proof of identity/nationality, which may include:
  • Electors Photo Identity card (EPIC)
  • Islanders Identity Card.
  • Family identity card (Food Card)
  • Passport
  • Local Certificate.
  • Any other document duly certified/attested by a responsible Gazetted Officer.

For Defense / Police Personnel:

  • Two recent passport size photographs
  • Proof of identity/nationality, certified/attested by a responsible officer of the Administration which may include the above described general public case.
  • NOC/Certificate by the Controlling Officer giving the service particulars of the applicant and specific recommendation.

Following are the list of documents that has to be enclosed along with the application form to renew the arms (gun) license

For Renewal

  • Arms license in original.
  • Weapon Deposit certificate in case of expiry of renewal date.
  • Proof of present residential address.

For Transfer Case
When the original licensee is alive:

  • During his life-time, the licensee may transfer the arms license to legal heirs by making an application in plain paper.
  • The person to whom license is to be transferred shall apply in Form “A”.

When the original licensee has expired:

  • Application shall be made in Form “A”.
  • No objection from the legal heirs, in the form of an affidavit sworn before a magistrate.
  • Two Passport size photographs.
