Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The beneficiary shall approach their respective Social Welfare Department office in their area.
2. Contact link in the given page, please select the “CONTACT US” menu for contact details AND the applicant shall also enquire at the local panchayat office to apply for the incentive link Select “Districts” menu to choose districts from the drop-down list to reach the respective portal. In the given portal page, please select “ABOUT DISTRICT > Who’s Who” OR “ABOUT DISTRICT > ADMINISTRATIVE SETUP > Wards and Panchayats” OR “DIRECTORY > PUBLICUTILITIES > Municipalities” as appropriate for the contact details.
3. Go to the respective office and consult with the designated authority. If the government is granting the incentive, then get to know the applying procedure. Please collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
4. Please complete the application form. Attach all the documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page (please get the recommendation of the officer concerned at the respective block/tahsil welfare office) and submit it to the designated authority.
5. Authorities will check the submitted application and documents to make sure that the applicant (couple) is eligible for the scheme and all the required documents are in place. If eligible and the documents are in place, the application will be accepted.
6. Authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using computer. The applicant will be provided with a record number as acknowledgement for future reference.
7. The application will be processed further.
8. This incentive is sanctioned based on the details given in the application, local enquiry, facts and records produced.
9. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile.
10. The department authorities will do the ground level verification to clarify the application details and do the local enquiry to clarify the facts.
11. Based on the outcome of the verification, the department will forward the proposal with recommendation to the sanctioning body.
12. The sanctioning body will evaluate the case to sanction the incentive.
13. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or as per the applicable norms.
14. If approved, the incentive will be credited in the applicant’s (widow) account as per applicable norms.
15. Usually there is no fee charged for this procedure.
16. The whole process can be completed within 15 days or as per the timeline with respect to the department’s work schedule and also based on the budget allotment.

• Apart from the above documents, the authorities may ask for additional information or documents. Please provide them for processing.

Eligibility

• The couple should be Indian citizens.
• Applicant should be the resident of the respective state for the advised time period.
• Remarried widows are eligible to apply.
• The minimum age of 20 years (or the minimum age limit fixed by the respective state as applicable) for the bride and maximum age of 40 years (or the maximum age limit fixed by the respective state as applicable) for the bridegroom at the time of marriage are eligible to apply for this scheme.
• The couple with marriage registration certificate are eligible to apply.
• The applicant shall apply within 6 months (in some states it is 12 months) or as per the period as applicable for the state from the date of marriage.
• Incentive will be provided only those who have applied within 6 months from the date of marriage or as per the timeline fixed by the respective state.

Fees

• There is no fee required for this service. Please follow the authority’s guidelines for any charges (if required).
• Non-judicial stamp paper (for 10 rupees or as per the advised amount) may be required.

Validity

• The couple will get the incentive for the application that they submitted. There is no validity with respect to the period.

Processing Time

• The application will be processed within 15 days or as per the department’s timeline (The authorities will provide the time limit for the approval).

Instructions

• This incentive is applicable for the widow remarriage only.
• Any wrongful identification and certification of beneficiaries shall attract severe disciplinary action against the concerned.
• Do not submit fake documents as a proof to get this incentive.
• Incomplete application will be rejected.
• Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
• Applicant will be penalized if any information provided by the applicant while applying for this incentive scheme is being found false or incorrect.

Need for the Document

• This scheme is aimed at encouraging widows to remarry a bachelor/widower by providing financial assistance to lead a normal life.
• The main objective of the scheme is to empower widow remarriage and rehabilitate widows by providing financial assistance.
• This scheme brings in new dimension of social change among the widows.

Information which might help

• No incentive is available on second or subsequent remarriage.
• The applicant shall make a complaint with the district collector/district social welfare officer/director, social welfare department in case of any discrepancy.
