ProcedureEdit
Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, the applicant has to approach their respective bank branch or post office where they have their account.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the bank officer or it can be downloaded from the given following link
- Note: The applicant can download the application form based on their languages.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- There are no application fees for the scheme, for more details check the “Fees” section of this page.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- This entire process can be completed within a week or as per the timeline advised by the respective bank.

EligibilityEdit
- All individual (single or joint) account holders of participating banks / Post offices, in the age group of 18 to 50 years are entitled to join. In case of multiple accounts held by an individual in one or different banks / Post offices, the person is eligible to join the scheme through one bank / Post office account only.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- PMJJBY is an insurance scheme offering life insurance cover for death due to any reason. It is a one-year cover, renewable from year to year. The scheme is offered/administered through LIC and other Life Insurance companies willing to offer the product on similar terms with necessary approvals and tie-ups with Banks / Post offices for this purpose. Participating banks/ Post offices are free to engage any such life insurance company for implementing the scheme for their subscribers.

- Risk coverage under this scheme is for Rs. 2 Lakh in case of death of the insured, due to any reason. The premium is Rs. 436 per annum which is to be auto-debited in one installment from the subscriber’s bank account as per the option given by him on or before 31st May of each annual coverage period under the scheme.

Enrolment period: The cover shall be for one-year period stretching from 1st June to 31st May for which option to join / pay by auto-debit from the designated individual bank / Post office account on the prescribed forms will be required to be given by 31st May of every year. Delayed enrolment for prospective cover is possible with payment of pro-rata premium as described below;
- For enrolment in June, July and August – Full Annual Premium of Rs.436/- is payable.
- For enrolment in September, October, and November – pro rata premium of Rs. 342/- is payable
- For enrolment in December, January and February – pro rata premium of Rs. 228/- is payable.
- For enrolment in March, April and May – pro rata premium of Rs. 114/- is payable.
