Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To register or to get a License for Cold storage, you can visit the Deputy Commissioner office.

3. You can download the application Form-B from the following link: Form B.
4. Please make sure you are eligible to make the application by going through the eligibility criteria provided under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
5. First download the Form-B from the link and fill all the required information and you need to submit the form to the Commissioner Food safety department. The address mentioned in the office locations & contacts section below.
6. Please complete the application form and make sure you have all the documents that are listed under “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. Pay the appropriate fees and submit the form to the Commissioner of Food and Safety Department in the office of the deputy commissioner.
8. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
9. Authorities will inspect the facilities that are related to the cold storage and if they are satisfied with the standards followed the authorities will provide the franchise permission.
10. The applicant will be later requested to collect the FSSAI license for cold storage on a specified date.

Apply Online:

1. To Apply FSSAI License for Cold storage through online, you can use the FOSCOS website. Please click the following link : FOSCOS Website.
2. After visiting the link, you have to click the “CLICK HERE FOR FOSCOS” tab.
3. Click the “Login-Businesses” tab and Under User sign-in Box enter your user name, password and captcha code and Click on the “sign-in” button to login.
4. If you are a new user, then Click on the Sign up tab and fill all the required details and enter the captcha code and Click on the “Sign up” tab.
5. After that you will receive a mail and now the username and password will be activated for new users.
6. After successful log-in, Click on the License/Registration and Select the Apply for License/Registration on the Left menu.
7. Next select the state from the dropdown list box and read the Note.
8. Next select the type of Business, Now Select the radio button according to your Business category. After that Click on the “Proceed” tab.
9. On the next page, Click on the “Click here to apply State License for all Businesses”.
10. Next Form-B page will be displayed, fill all the required informations under premises details section and Click on the “Save & Next” tab.
11. On the Production selection page, fill all the details for DGFT Authentication and Click on the “Proceed with DGFT validation” to authenticate the details.
12. Next Click on the “Save” to save the authenticated details. After Successfully Proceeding with DGFT validation, Click on the “Save & Next”.
13. Next fill all the Communication details and Click on the “Save & Next”.
14. Under required documents section upload all the relevant documents and Click on the “Save & Next”.
15. Next pay the amount by clicking on the preferable method.
16. After Successful Completing the payment, a receipt will be generated with a 17-digit reference number make a print of it and keep it safe for future reference.
17. You can track the application through the Home page.
18. This application will be processed by them and they will notify you through your e-mail or by SMS.

Apply through mobile app:

1. The applicant willing to Apply FSSAI License must download the ‘’Food Safety Connect’’ mobile app.
2. The applicant can download the app from play store using the following Link: link
3. Once downloaded, the applicant must click the button “Apply for license” in the main page.
4. Then the applicant has to select their respective state from the dropdown menu where premises is located for which License/Registration will be obtained.
5. Next select the type of Business, Now Select the annual turnover of the business. After that Click on the “Proceed” tab.
6. On the next page, click on the “Click here to apply Central License for all Businesses”.
7. Next Form-B page will be displayed, fill all the required information under premises details section and Click on the “Save & Next” tab.
8. On the Production selection page, fill all the details for DGFT Authentication and Click on the “Proceed with DGFT validation” to authenticate the details.
9. Next Click on the “Save” to save the authenticated details. After Successfully Proceeding with DGFT validation, click on the “Save & Next”.
10. Next fill all the Communication details and Click on the “Save & Next”.
11. Under required documents section upload all the relevant documents and Click on the “Save & Next”.
12. Next pay the fees and submit the application.

• The license ensures that the food from the Cold storage is hygienic.
• Due to the increasing demand in food supply, the production of foods such as fruit and vegetables continues to rise. In order to preserve these types of goods, they need to be placed in cold storage facilities to make sure that they do not spoil.
• For to preserve these foods we need to obtain Cold storage license from FSSAI.

• You can’t start a food business without FSSAI license. So don’t sell foods without FSSAI license.
• Sometimes the authorities will do inspections if you don’t have license then you must pay huge amount has penalty.
