Apply In-Person:
Note: In-Person applications are allowed only when the applicant is in need to update their address and it is different from their mailing address.
- To update Employment Insurance Claim Information in person, the applicant has to visit any nearest Service Canada Office.
- Links containing address and contact details of the Service Canada offices in Alberta can be found in the following Service Canada contact link
- Visit the office and approach the respective official who is responsible to update the Employment Insurance Claim Information.
- The official in-charge may require verifying the applicant’s identity and checking whether he/she is a claimant.
- The applicant will have to provide the relevant information that he/she needs to be updated.
- Refer the “Required Documents” section of this page to know about the required documents.
- Once the applicant has provided the relevant information, the official in-charge will proceed to update the information of the applicant.
- The official will make the respective changes and after necessary verification processes, the information will be updated in the database.
Apply through telephone
- To update Employment Insurance Claim Information through telephone, the applicant has to call the following contact number: 1-800-206-7218
- The applicant has to make the phone call and inform that he/she needs to update Employment Insurance Claim Information.
- The official in-charge may require verifying the applicant’s identity and checking whether he/she is a claimant.
- The applicant will have to provide the relevant information that he/she needs to be updated.
- Refer the “Required Documents” section of this page to know about the required documents.
- Once the applicant has provided the relevant information, the official in-charge will proceed to update the information of the applicant.
- The official will make the respective changes and after necessary verification processes, the information will be updated in the database.
Apply online
- Using GC Key
- To view or update Employment Insurance Claim Information online using GC Key, the applicant has to visit the following Apply online
- Visit the link and scroll down to the bottom, then click “Start now” button.
- In the page that opens, enter the user details in the respective fields and then click “Sign In” button, if applicable.
- Or, click the “Sign Up” button to create an account. Click “I accept” button and type an appropriate username in the next tab.
- Click “Continue” button and create a password for the new account in the next tab, then click “Continue” button.
- Create Recovery Questions, Answers and Hints in the next page and click “Continue” button. Click “I agree” button in the next page.
- In the next page, there will be two options to help verifyinguser’s identity. Select an applicable option.
- Once signed in with GCKey and have verified the identity, the applicant should create their MSCA profile.
- Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the profile creation. Proceed to sign in using the Username and Password.
- After profile creation, click the “View my status and correspondence” button and follow the onscreen instruction to view the required information.
- If the applicant wants to update direct deposit information, he/she has to click the “Direct deposit” button and follow onscreen instruction to update it.
- If the applicant wants to update mailing address and telephone number, he/she have to click the “Mailing address and telephone number” option and follow onscreen instruction to update them as required.
- If the applicant is about to change his/her address within 180 days and he/she wishes to update it in advance, he/she have to click “My future mailing address and telephone number information”button.
- Do as mentioned earlier and update the address. In order to update the new province which the applicant has been recently moved to, click “Province of residence” option.
- After making the required changes, click the applicable button to save them and after necessary verification processes, the information will be updated in the database.
- Using Bank account
- To view Canada Pension Plan Statement of Contributions onlineusing bank account, the applicant has to visit the following Apply online
- Visit the link and click “Start now” button which will be at the bottom of the page.
- List of financial Sign-In Partners will be displayed in the next page, from which the applicant has to select one in which he/she has subscribed online banking.
- Respective online banking portal will be opened, login into it using the user credentials.
- After logging in, there will be two options to help verifying the applicant’s identity. Select an applicable option.
- Once verified the identity, the applicant should create their MSCA profile.
- Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the profile creation. Proceed to sign in using the Username and Password.
- After profile creation, click the “View my status and correspondence” button and follow the onscreen instruction to view the required information.

- In the page opens, will be present two options for two provinces. Select an applicable option and click “I agree” button in the next page.
- Respective online application portal will be opened. The applicant has to complete the application process by following the onscreen instructions.

- The applicant should have valid GC Key User ID or an active bank account with online banking facility or Provincial digital ID.

InstructionsEdit
- When you change your mailing address or direct deposit information using My Service Canada Account, it’s updated right away.
- You can view your EI claim status and messages by selecting “View my status and correspondence”. It’s only available for applications submitted after November 7, 2016.
- You must let the office know of any changes if you have received EI benefits in the past year. This prevents delays in receiving benefits.
- It also ensures you receive your T4E for your tax return.
