- To Renew a Mental Health Counsellor License, the applicant has to approach the Public Health Agency of Canada link
- The applicant has to make sure they are aware of the expiry date of their current Mental Health Counsellor license. Licensing authorities usually send renewal notices well in advance of the expiration date.
- Many regulatory bodies require Mental Health Counsellors to complete a certain number of continuing education credits or professional development hours to renew their license.
- The applicant has to ensure that they have met these educational requirements and keep records of completed courses or activities.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- Upon approval, the applicant will receive a renewed Mental Health Counsellor license or a confirmation of the renewal. This document allows one to continue practising legally.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 – 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
