Alberta - Obtain Hazardous Waste Carrier Registration

Apply through mail
- To apply for Hazardous Waste Carrier Registration through mail, the applicant has to send the paper application to the mailing address of the Waste Reduction and Management Division of Environment and Natural Resources office in Canada.
- Mailing address of the office can be found in the following Contact link
- First, the applicant has to visit the following link to complete the Notice form
- The applicant can complete the form online itself by following the on screen instructions or offline by downloading/printing the form.
- To download a PDF version of the form, the applicant has to click on the “Print” button which is present at the bottom of the form.
- The applicant has to complete the application form with required details and information about the carrier processes.
- The applicant has to make sure that the application contains all the information listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Then, the applicant should choose a mail service (of his/her desired choice) and send the application to the Mailing address of the office.
- For fees details, the applicant can contact the office and the official will inform the applicant about the necessary fees to be paid for the registration.
- Pay the fees as instructed by the officials. Upon submission of the application and successful payment of the fees, the application will be set out for processing.
- Once processing is over and the application is found sufficient, the applicant will be contacted through mobile or email and informed about the further processes.

InstructionsEdit
- The submitted application must identify only one shipping facility as the Consignor, and one receiving facility as the Consignee.
- If the receiving facility is not performing the final disposal or recycling operation, any other authorized facility that will perform the final operation must be listed.
- The Notice may include both hazardous wastes and hazardous recyclables. Several types of hazardous wastes and hazardous recyclables may be listed.
- The applicant is responsible for applying for the permit, and for ensuring fulfilment of all terms of the permit while the HW or HRM are in Canada.
- A copy of the transit permit and a copy of the movement document must accompany each shipment, and be provided to the customs office at the ports of entry and exit.
