Alberta - Obtain Duplicate Citizenship Card (Lost, Stolen, Damaged)

Apply In-Person
- To obtain a duplicate citizenship card, the applicant will need an application package. Here is the link package.
- Fill in the application form. Here is the link application.
- Fill in the application form with all the relevant details.
- Pay the fee (Fees can only be paid in the online mode).
- The link for the online fee payment can be found under the “Fees to be paid” section of this page.
- The applicant will need to select the country they live in to obtain the address where the application needs to be submitted.
- For those residing in Canada, this is the address where the application needs to be mailed: Citizenship and Immigration Canada Case Processing Centre — Proof P.O. Box 10000 Sydney, Nova Scotia B1P 7C1.
- Once submitted, the application will be forwarded for processing.
- It will take 15 months to process the certificate.
Apply Online
- To apply online, the applicant will have to create/log in to their IRCC account, here is the Link.
- If the applicant has an account login, they can directly login using GCKey or a Sign-in partner.
- If the applicant does not have an account, follow these steps:
- Click on “Register”.
- The applicant can either register using a “GCkey” or with a “Sign-in Partner”.
- Select the option that applies.
- Follow these steps depending on the option chosen: Link.
- Now, the applicant will have to log in to their account.
- The applicant will be directed to another page.
- Once logged in, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Citizenship: Apply for a search or proof of citizenship”.
- After this select the option that says “Apply for or replace a citizenship certificate”.
- The applicant will be prompted to answer more questions.
- Click on “Continue”.
- The applicant will be directed to an application form where they will have to enter their details.
- Click on “Save and continue” once all the details have been entered.
- On the next page, upload all the required documents, click on “Save and continue”.
- The applicant will have to pay fees.
- Once paid, submit the application.
- The applicant shall receive their certificate within 15 months from the submission of the application.

EligibilityEdit
- The applicant should be a Canadian citizen.
- The applicant can only apply if their original certificate got lost/stolen.
- The applicant can apply for their child if they are eligible to pass their citizenship status to their child.
- The applicant can apply for a certificate if they have changed their name.
