Apply In-Person

  1. To obtain a driver’s license extract, the applicant will need to visit the nearest Registry Agent’s Office. Find the nearest office here Link
  2. The applicant will need to complete an application form. Click on the following link to download the application form Link
  3. The applicant will need to carry an acceptable ID with them.
  4. Submit the application form to the registry agent's office.
  5. The applicant will need to sign and date the application form in front of the registry agent clerk.
  6. The applicant may need to pay a fee, find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. The applicant will receive their driver’s license extract the same day; it can be collected from the counter after fee payment.


Apply In-Person (Authorizing an individual to request the applicant’s abstract on their behalf)

  1. To obtain a driver’s license extract, the applicant can authorize another person to submit the form at the nearest Registry Agent’s Office. Find the nearest office here Link
  2. The applicant will need to fill out a driver's abstract consent. Click on the following link to download the form: Link
  3. The applicant will need to check box 5(1)(a) and only fill out Part 1.
  4. The applicant’s representative will need to download and fill out the following form: Link
  5. The applicant will need to send their consent form to their representative or the registry agent's office.
  6. The authorised representative will need to carry an acceptable photo ID to the registry agent.
  7. The authorised representative will need to fill out the driver's extract application form at the registry agent's office.
  8. The applicant may need to pay a fee, find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  9. The applicant shall obtain their extract by mail or courier at the address mentioned on the application form.


Apply In-Person (For a minor)

  1. To obtain a driver’s license extract for a minor, the applicant will need to visit the nearest Registry Agent’s Office. Find the nearest office here Link
  2. The applicant will need to fill out an application form, click on the link to download the application form Link
  3. The applicant will need to check box 5(1)(b)(iv).
  4. The applicant will need to carry an acceptable photo ID.
  5. Submit the application form to the registry agent's office.
  6. The applicant will need to sign and date the application form in front of the registry agent clerk.
  7. The applicant may need to pay a fee, find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. The applicant will receive their driver’s license extract the same day; it can be collected from the counter after fee payment.


Apply Online

  1. To obtain a driver’s license extract, the applicant can use the MyAlberta Digital ID online service. Here is the contact Link
  2. If the applicant has an account, log in. If the applicant does not have an account, follow these steps:
    • On the log in page, click on the “Create account” option.
    • Enter all the relevant information such as name, address, telephone number and so on.
    • Agree to the terms and conditions and click on “Submit”.
    • The applicant will need to confirm the email by clicking on the verification link sent to the applicant’s email ID.
    • The applicant will need to submit additional verification details such as their social insurance number.
    • Once all the details have been entered, click on “Submit” to create an account.
    • The applicant’s account will take 10 days to fully activate and the applicant will need to wait until the account is activated to order a DL extract.
  3. Once logged in, the applicant can order driver’s extract online through online orders.
  4. The applicant may need to pay a fee, find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  5. The applicant can download and print their extract immediately after submission.


Apply by Mail (If the applicant is outside Alberta)

  1. To obtain a driver’s license extract, the applicant will need to send the application to the nearest Registry Agent’s Office. Find the nearest office here Link
  2. The applicant will need to complete an application form. Click on the following link to download the application form Link
  3. The applicant must not sign the form until they are at a notary public.
  4. The applicant will need to visit the nearest notary public to notarize their application form and copy of acceptable ID.
  5. Send the notarized application form along will the other notarized documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page to an Alberta Registry Agent.
  6. The applicant may need to pay a fee, find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. The applicant shall obtain their extract by mail or courier at the address mentioned on the application form.
