Apply Online Using Sign-In Partner

  1. To apply for Canada Recovery Care-giving Benefit (CRCB) online using Sign-in Partner, the applicant has to visit the following link: Apply online
  2. Now, the applicant has to choose one among the three registering options.
  3. The first option is registration using online banking sign-in information. The applicant has to click “Sign-In Partner” button in the “My Accounts” page.
  4. List of financial Sign-In Partners will be displayed in the next page, from which the applicant has to select one in which he/she has subscribed online banking.
  5. Respective online banking portal will be opened, login into it using the user credentials.
  6. After logging in, there will be two options to help verifying the applicant’s identity. Select an applicable option.
  7. Once verified the identity, the applicant should create theirCanada Revenue Agency profile.
  8. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the profile creation. Proceed to sign in using the Username and Password.
  9. After signing in, locate the applicable option to apply for Canada Recovery Care-giving Benefit (CRCB). Click on it and proceed to complete the application form with required details and information.
  10. Upload the required documents by following the online instructions (if required). Otherwise, refer the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page, to complete the application.
  11. Once completed providing the necessary information, click the applicable button to submit the completed application.
  12. Upon receipt of the application, the officials will verify the application and scrutinize the submitted information.
  13. If the officials found that the submitted information is insufficient, they will demand further validation of the application.
  14. In that case, the CRA may ask the applicant to provide additional information. Until then, the payment will not be released.
  15. The applicant can login in to their CRA account and upload the additional information/documents by following the onscreen instructions.
  16. Validation takes up to 4 weeks from the date they receive required additional information from the applicant. If the situation is more complex and the provided information is not clear or documents are missing, it may take up to 8 weeks.
  17. The applicant will be contacted by any means, once the validation is complete. He/she will be informed about the approval or rejection of the application.
  18. In case of rejected applications, the applicants can apply for second review through their Canada Revenue Agency accounts by providing the reasons and any relevant documents.
  19. If that is also denied, the applicant can appeal to the Federal Court for a judicial review of the CRA decision within 30 days of the date on which the second review decision has been received.

  21. To apply for Canada Recovery Care-giving Benefit (CRCB) online using Canada Revenue Agency account, the applicant has to visit the following link: Apply online
  22. In the page opens, the applicant has to choose one among the three registering options.
  23. If the applicant wishes to continue with his/her Canada Revenue Agency account details and there is a CRA account already, click “CRA sign-In” button in the “My Accounts” page.
  24. Enter the User ID, password and click “Sign in” button to sign in to the Canada Revenue Agency account.
  25. If the user is new, he/she should click the “CRA register” link to create a new account. The applicant will be prompted to validate his/her identity in the next page.
  26. Enter the social insurance number in the field provided and click “Next” button. Instead, he/she can click the “sign in” link and proceed with CRA security code.
  27. Once verified the identity, the applicant should create theirCanada Revenue Agency profile.

Apply through phone/teletypewriter

  1. To apply for Canada Recovery Care-giving Benefit (CRCB) through telephone/teletypewriter, the applicant has to call the telephone number or the TTY number allotted by the Canada Revenue Agency, for receiving the CRCB applications.
  2. Firstly, the applicant has to become ready with the necessary information listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. Then, the applicant has to make a phone call to the following number: 1-800-959-8281 (phone) or 1-800-665-0354 (TTY)
  4. The applicant can make a call from 8AM to 8PM (local time) on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and from 9AM to 5PM (local time) on Saturdays.
  5. The office will not receive any applications on Sundays and public holidays.
  6. On the other side, the official who is in-charge of receiving CRCB applications will answer the phone.
  7. He/she will ask for the above-mentioned information one by one from the applicant. The applicant has to provide the accurate information since these details will help the official in verifying the applicant’s identity.
  8. Once the official felt that the obtained is sufficient, he/she will file the application on the CRA database.
  9. Upon receipt of the application, the officials will verify the application and scrutinize the submitted information.

  • The applicant should be unable to work at least 50% of his/her scheduled work week because he/she is taking care of a family member.
  • The applicant must reside in Canada at the time of application or he/she must have been present in Canada.

InstructionsEdit

  • You may start applying on the first Monday after the 1-week period you’re applying for has ended. Applications do not renew automatically.
  • You must apply for each period separately. You may apply for any period you are eligible for that is open for application, including up to 60 days after the period has ended.
  • The CRA will verify that you're eligible to receive the CRCB. Individuals who are found to have intentionally made fraudulent claims may face additional consequences, such as penalties or possible jail time.
  • The Canada Recovery Care-giving Benefit (CRCB) provides a payment of $500 (before taxes withheld) for each 1-week period you apply for. After the CRA withholds 10% tax at source, the actual payment you get is $450 per 1-week period.
  • Only one eligible individual in the same household (living as a family at the same address) can apply for the benefit per week. Each household may receive payments for a maximum of 44 weeks between September 27, 2020 and May 7, 2022.
