Apply In-Person:
- To file Trust Income Tax in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Canada Revenue Agency that is nearest to their location.
- Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
- Visit the office as applicable and obtain Form T3RET, T3 Trust Income Tax, and Information Return, from the relevant department.
- Application form download links are also available below:
- Complete the application form with all the required details and information in the respective fields.
- After that, the applicant should attach the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page, with the completed form.
- Then, submit the application form and required documents to the relevant official at the office. The official will inform the amount of fees to be paid (if any) for the process.
- On receiving the completed form and the required information, the respective official will assess the submitted information and proceed to file the Trust Income Tax.
- The Canada Revenue Agency will complete the assessment as well as file within a time period of seventeen weeks, probably.
Apply through EFILE:
- To file Trust Income Tax through T3 EFILE Certified Software, the applicant has to visit the following T3 EFILE Certified Software
- Visit the link and the applicant can find the links of all the certified tax software applications, from which they have to select a link that is applicable.
- Make a selection as applicable and proceed by following onscreen instructions. Download the software by clicking the applicable buttons and launch it on the device.
- Then, locate the applicable option to file the Trust Income Tax. The applicant may have to create an account on the respective online platform.
- Follow the onscreen instructions, provide the required details and complete the application process. Upload the required documents (if any).
- The software/electronic platform will prompt the applicant to pay the amount of the fee as applicable (if any). The applicant has to pay for that by following the onscreen instructions.
- The process may also be free concerning the application platform. Once done, submit the form by clicking the applicable button.
- Upon receiving the completed form and the required information, the agency will assess the submitted information and proceed to file the Trust Income Tax.
- The Canada Revenue Agency will complete the assessment as well as file within a period of seventeen weeks, probably.
Apply through Internet File Transfer:
- To file Trust Income Tax through Internet File Transfer, the applicant has to visit the following Internet File Transfer
- Visit the link, scroll down and click “Start Internet file transfer (XML)” button. Read the disclaimer present in the next page and click “I agree” button to proceed.
- In the next page, the applicant should enter the Account number and Web access code in the respective fields, then click “Next” button.
- If the applicant does not have a Web access code, he/she should click “Need a Web access code” option present on the left side.
- Read the disclaimer present in the next page and click “I agree” button to obtain a Web access code online. Select the applicable radio button in the next page and click “Next” button.
- Then, follow the onscreen instructions as required and obtain the access code. After obtaining it, return to the former page and enter the access code to proceed.
- Click “Next” button and proceed to file the return. Follow the onscreen instructions, provide the required details and complete the application process.
- Upload the required documents (if any). The Internet file transfer platform will prompt the applicant to pay the fees amount as applicable (if any).
- The applicant has to pay that by following the onscreen instructions. The process may also be free with respect to the applying platform.
- Once done, submit the form by clicking the applicable button. Before everything, the applicant has to create an .xml file of the T3 Trust Income Tax return.

- On receiving the required information, the agency will assess the submitted information and proceed to file the Trust Income Tax.
- The Canada Revenue Agency will complete the assessment as well as filing within a time period of seventeen weeks, probably.
Apply through Web Form:
- To file Trust Income Tax using Web Form, the applicant has to visit the following Web form
- Visit the link, scroll down and click “Start Web Forms” button. Read the disclaimer present on the next page and click “I agree” button to proceed.
- If the applicant already has a Web access code, they enter the required details in the respective fields and click “Next” button to proceed.
- If not, they should click “Create a web access code” button to obtain a new web access code online. Read the disclaimer present in the next page and click “I agree” button.
- Select the applicable radio button on the next page and click “Next” button. Then, follow the onscreen instructions as required and obtain the access code.
- After obtaining it, return to the former page and enter the access code to proceed. The applicant will be directed to complete the Web form for the T3 return.
- Complete it by providing the required information and following the onscreen instructions. Upload the required documents (if any).
- The online platform will prompt the applicant to pay the fees amount as applicable (if any) and the applicant has to pay that by following the onscreen instructions. The process may also be free with respect to the applying platform.
- Once done, submit the form by clicking the applicable button. On receiving the required information, the agency will assess the submitted information and proceed to file the Trust Income Tax.
- The Canada Revenue Agency will complete the assessment as well as file within a time period of seventeen weeks, probably.
Apply through mail:
- To file Trust Income Tax through mail, the applicant has to send an application to the office of Canada Revenue Agency that is nearest to their location.

- Complete the application form with all the required details and information in the respective fields.
- After that, the applicant should attach the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page, with the completed form.

- To file a T3 return online using Internet file transfer, a web access code (WAC) is required. If the applicant has a WAC that was issued to file their trust-related information returns, they can use that one.
- If they have misplaced or do not have a WAC, they should go to Web access code to use their online service.
- If the applicant is not able to access their WAC online or want to change it, they should contact the Business Enquiries line at 1-800-959-5525.

- Internet file transfer is available to most taxpayers and tax preparation service providers when a trust’s taxable income and tax payable are $0.00.
- The applicant cannot use Internet file transfer to file a trust return if the return is an amended tax return or the return is for a tax year that ends before 2015 or the trust does not have a trust account number or cannot provide one in the electronic file.
