Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To register in Fishermen co-operatives please visit the local office of the fishermen co-operative society of your respective area. The address and contact details of head office for fishermen co- operative societies can be found in the following Contact Link.
2. Visit the Office and get the Application form to register your membership in the respective fishermen co-operative society.
3. Please fill the application with essential information and details and it should be attested with the applicant’s signature.
4. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed in “Required Documents” section of this page. Attach all the important documents mentioned.
5. Then, it should be submitted to the relevant authority. Also pay the required fees for the application process at the office as directed by the officials.
6. Your application and attached documents will be sent for verification to check, if there is any discrepancy.
7. After all the processes are completed, concerned officials will approve the application and proceed with the sanction of membership in the corresponding fishermen co-operative society.
8. The membership card can be collected in person or the office will inform the applicant to collect the card through any applicable means.

• Copy of license issued to all the fishing gear owned by fishermen/fisherwomen by the Government.
• Proof of Bank details of fishermen/fisherwomen for transfer of Subsidies and benefits from the Department of Fisheries. (if they are eligible)

Eligibility

• The applicant must be of between 18 years and 60 years of age.
• The applicants must be engaged in full-time fishing activity.
• The applicant must be the resident of the area of the Fishermen co-operative society they approach.
• The applicants must have a valid fishing license issued by Government.
• The applicants must have a valid license for all the fishing gear owned, issued by the Government.

Fees

• The applicants must pay an amount of INR 1 as an entrance fee in the co-operative society.
• The applicant must pay an amount of INR 10 towards the share capital of the co-operative society.

Validity

• The validity of the membership in the fishermen co-operative society will be mentioned in the membership card.
• The membership validity is for 5 years in general.
• Please contact the office for updated details on validity.
