ProcedureEdit

To Register for Diamond Trading License, the applicant must obtain membership from the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and complying with certain regulations set by the government. The GJEPC is the apex body of the gem and jewellery industry in India, and membership is essential for engaging in diamond trading and exporting.

Step 1: Register Membership Online

  1. To register for membership, the applicant has to make the application online via following link link
  2. The applicant must click registration and select type of registration either Domestic or International.
  3. Once user registration is completed, user will receive an email with credentials.
  4. Login to the portal using the following link link by enter email address, password, and captcha.
  5. Then Start filling forms starting from “Application form for Associate Membership.”
  6. The System will automatically take you through to next form once the current form is saved.
  7. Next the applicant must make payment of fees will be initiated through challan form via net banking/Debit card/Credit Card/NEFT.
  8. Once completed print all forms from – “Print Application/Challan form” and approach head office or respective regional office of GJEPC



Step 2: Submission of documents to head office or respective regional office of GJEPC

  1. The applicant must approach the head office or nearby regional office of GJEPC and submit the documents. link

  3. Complete any other formalities requested by the GJEPC during the application process.
  4. The GJEPC may conduct an inspection of your business premises to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  5. After scrutiny and satisfaction, if the applicant is not a defaulter, the Registration cum Membership Certificate is issued to applicant. This license allows you to engage in diamond trading and export activities.
  6. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

  • Application form for Associate Membership, Application form for (RCMC) and challan form duly signed by Proprietor/Partner/Director as the case may be
  • Signature Slip (Online form) signed by Proprietor/Partner/Director and attested by banker of applicant
  • Self-attested copy of Import Export Code (IEC) issued by O/o Director General of Foreign Trade
  • Self-attested copy of PAN and Partnership Deed / Memorandum & Articles of Association as the case may be
  • Self-attested copy of MSME(UAN)/SSI/IM, if applied under Manufacturer category
  • Self-attested copy GST certificate (for all states if office/branches situated in different states), Not applicable for Micro Associate Membership
  • Self-attested copy of PAN, Passport and Aadhar of Proprietor/Partner/Director as the case may be

EligibilityEdit

The eligibility to apply for diamond trading license are listed below

  • The applicant must have a legally registered business entity related to the gems and jewellery industry. This could be a manufacturer, exporter, trader, or any other business involved in the gem and jewellery trade.
  • The applicant's business should be engaged in genuine gem and jewellery-related activities, and it should be operational and active.
  • The applicant may need to meet certain financial criteria, such as a minimum turnover, to qualify for GJEPC membership. The specific turnover requirement can vary depending on the category of membership applied for (i.e., manufacturer, exporter, etc.).
  • For applicants involved in export activities, compliance with export regulations and export documentation requirements is essential. Having an Import-Export Code (IEC) issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is typically mandatory for export-oriented businesses.
  • The applicant's track record and reputation in the industry may be taken into consideration during the membership application process.
  • The applicant must have a valid Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration, as it is a mandatory requirement for businesses in India engaged in trade and commerce.
