Procedure

Apply in Person

1. To apply for renewal of Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) in Andaman and Nicobar the applicant has to approach the Motor Vehicle Section under the Directorate of Transport.

3. Application in Plain Paper to Secretary (STA)
   
4. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
   
5. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   
6. Important verification’s for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built, seating arrangements etc... Will be carried by authorities.
   
7. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.
   

Apply Online:

1. To renew Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the applicant has to visit: Link.
2. Follow all the on-screen instructions and fill in the necessary information as mandated.
3. After filling up all the required information, select the "Tourist Vehicle Permit" button on the webpage and click the "Search" option to proceed with renewal.
4. Follow the instructions as directed and acquire an acknowledgement slip/e-copy of the permit.
5. The applicant may collect the permit from the concerned office/department with the help of an e-copy/acknowledgement slip.

Eligibility

Validity

• A tourist vehicle permit shall be valid for...
  

1. 9 years in the case of a motor cab (passenger not exceeding 6 excluding driver)
   
2. 8 years for vehicles other than a motor cab
   
3. unless the motor vehicle is replaced
   
4. In case of a vehicle covered by a tourist permit is proposed to be replaced by another vehicle, the new vehicle age should not be more than two years
   

NOTE: The period [9 years or 8 years] shall be computed from the date of initial registration of the motor vehicle.

Need for the Document

• The vehicle permit should be renewed as and when it has expired or about to expire in order to use the vehicle for tourist rental purpose
  
• As per Central Motor Vehicle Rules of 1989, Tourist Vehicle Permit is granted to owners whose vehicles are used for tourism purposes.
  
• Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) is needed for a tourist vehicle operator for the vehicle to carry passengers on a rental basis from one place to another
  
• This motor vehicle are constructed or adapted to carry allowed number of passengers as per permit, but not more than the allowed number of passengers, excluding the driver for hire purpose
