Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To renew your vehicle registration certificate in Andaman and Nicobar the applicant has to approach the Motor Vehicle Section under the Directorate of Transport.

4. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
   
5. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for this procedure
   
6. Make sure you have completed application form 25.: Form 25
   
7. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices
   
8. Submit the form with all the documents to the counter. The person will verify the form and mark the fees to be paid
   
9. Pay the fees at the cash counter
   
10. Produce the vehicle for inspection.
    
11. Once the inspection is through, the inspector will verify the engine and chassis numbers
    
12. You will get an Acknowledgement slip with which can you can collect the updated documents next day or the day mentioned in the slip.
    
    

Apply Online:

1. To Renew Vehicle Registration Certificate online, the applicant has to download the following form 25: Link.
2. Fill up the form as mandated and submit the same to the local RTO by post.
3. The applicant may also visit the following link: Link to apply.
4. Enter the registration date, registration number and chassis number to search the details of the vehicle.
5. On a new screen, the details of the vehicle and the applicant will appear.
6. Make necessary changes and click an appropriate option for renewal.
7. The applicant will be able to download a copy of the already submitted application form.
8. On renewal, the certificate will be updated and notified through the portal. The applicant has to visit the office and collect the same.

Eligibility

• Dealer is eligible to apply on behalf of the owner of the vehicle.
  
• In case of registration of temporary registered vehicle - the owner may apply for registration.
  
  

Fees

Validity

• In case of non-transport vehicles like two wheelers and cars, the registration certificate is valid for 15 years from the date of first registration and it is renewed after every five subsequent years.
  
• In case of transport vehicles like goods and passenger carriers the registration certificate is valid till certificate of fitness is valid. *The Non-Transport Category vehicle is renewed for 5 years.
  
• The Transport Category Vehicle is renewed for 1 year.
  
• Renewal should be made not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry

Need for the Document

• Vehicle registration's purpose is to establish clear ownership and to tax motorist or vehicle owners. It is a requirement by the state.
  
• As per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, all vehicles either transport or non-transport should renew their registration of vehicle after a period of time as allowed
  
• For Non-transport type vehicle like car, bike etc. need to be renewed after 15 years and 5 years afterwards
  
• For transport type vehicles like bus the renewal is required for every year, as long as it is considered road worthy by the department.

• While applying - Documents can be made in duplicate if the vehicle is held under an agreement of Hire-purchase / Lease / Hypothecation and Duplicate copy with the endorsement of the Registering Authority to be returned to the Financier simultaneously on Registration of motor vehicle.
  
• Make sure all lights and horn are in good condition. Also, the vehicle should look neat and clean
