Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. Those who are in need of a senior citizen card shall approach their respective Ward / Corporation / Municipal / block development office to apply. If in case the authorities denied the request, them they may provide you with the respective social welfare department contact for their area.

  3. In the given page, please select the respective state as applicable to reach the respective state districts page. Please check and scroll down for the “Districts” section. Please click on the “View All” option to reach the districts page. Here click on the applicable district to reach the official district page.
  4. Here click on the menu and sub option as “DIRECTORY / PUBLIC UTILITIES / Municipalities” to reach a page with required contact information for locating the respective authorities office. Also Please look for other menu and sub options as “ABOUT DISTRICT / Who’s Who”.
  5. On locating the right office, visit the office and meet the respective designated staff. Request for the service. Once the staff explains, collect the application form if provided or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
  6. Submit the completed application form along with the documents that are mandatory for applying. 
  7. Once the application is accepted, authorities might provide an acknowledgement or any other receipt for the application accepted. Keep it safe for future reference.
  8. This application will be processed internally. Verification of submitted documents will also be carried.
  9. After successful completion, a Card will be delivered to the applicant through postal or in person as per the applicable norms.
  10. The whole process of issuing the Senior Citizen card will take 7 working days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.



Note:

  1. Earlier, the applicants in West Bengal shall approach their respective police station and sought their service to get a senior certificate. But in recent times, these services are not in their lookout. But still they have lend their support through the following portal Link
  2. In the given page, please click on the “Apply Online” button to get online application form to enroll as senior citizen member.
  3. Please complete the given form and hit the “REGISTER” button and follow the successive page as appropriate to register as a senior member.



Apply through Phone Call

  • You can apply by calling the National Helpline number "14567" for the Elders and they should be able to facilitate you to get a Senior Citizen Certificate or Identity Card.

  • Without cross signature(half on paper and half on photograph) and signature on undertaking, the application will be rejected
  • One has to produce the card to prove the authorities whenever asked for. So, this card must be carried always.
NOTE : It is a punishable offense to try with fraudulent documents to get a Senior citizen certificate
