Police clearance (Good Conduct) Certificate is an important document which serves as a proof that the person has no criminal record or previously involved in criminal, breach of trust cases or violation of law both in his home country and during his residence in Wallis and Futuna. Both locals and expats are supposed to obtain this certificate.

Conditions and Instructions:

  • All compulsory fields should be filled in.
  • Make sure all entered information is correct.
  • Make sure all required documents are provided.

Police certificate may be obtained through application to the Commissioner of Police in the country or territory concerned. Applicants must also include a prepaid envelope for International Mail with their Police Clearance application. The processed police clearance must be sent by the Office of the Police Commissioner directly to the Embassy.

The application must contain data:

  • name of the person, in case of change of name and surname and the original name or the original name or nickname if it is held,
  • date of birth,
  • identification number,
  • place and district of birth,
  • State of Birth
  • permanent address,
  • the alien's country of birth and,
  • citizenship,
  • sex,
  • name and surname of father
  • name and maiden name of mother.



Need for the DocumentEdit

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.

Police certificate is also known as good citizen certificate, good conduct certificate, police clearance certificate, or judicial record extracts. Applicants may have to submit fingerprints and certain personal information to request a criminal record check, and the police or government agency may charge a fee. If no record found, the police certificate will indicate such.

In many immigration cases you may be requested by relevant Government to present Police Clearance Certificate from another country where you have resided for some time. If you are going through immigration process, you will definitely be asked for such a certificate.



Information which might helpEdit

The criminal record can be requested by the person concerned or his legal representative if he is a minor or an adult under guardianship. It can not in any case, even with the consent of the applicant, be issued to a third party (Article 777 of the Code of Criminal Procedure).

Be issued with the criminal record of a third party is punishable by law (Article 781 of the Code of Criminal Procedure).

The identity you specify will be checked by the Service. It must therefore be strictly adheres to your status. Relevant document: Extract from Police Records (Extrait du Casier Judiciaire).

Non-French citizens and French citizens born outside Wallis and Futuna: Apply by post or online to the postal address above.

Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit

A police clearance certificate is a copy of your criminal record or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record. Police clearance certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, pcc, etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Citizenship and Immigration to prevent individuals who possess a risk to Country's security from entering the country.

Each individual has the right to contact any police station or the judiciary for the purpose of ordering a certificate regarding his or her criminal record, which will be sent according to the law, directly to foreign missions, to missions abroad or to international adoption agencies, depending on the available data.

It is the applicants responsibility to contact the relevant authorities to obtain the necessary police certificates or clearances. Each countrys procedures are different. Applicants may have to apply to more than one level of government or more than one agency - municipal, provincial, state, federal and the police, courts or similar governmental agencies for the police certificate. If a police certificate cannot be obtained from any of the countries on the list, provide a written explanation why and an original letter from the police authority confirming that it will not issue a certificate.
