ProcedureEdit

  1. Complete an Application Form, you need to go to your local DLCA to pick up and fill in the needed forms.
  2. Gather all documents you will need to submit together with your completed application (see list below).
  3. Pay all applicable fees.

Required DocumentsEdit

Initial Application :

  • A completed and certified application;
  • Three (3) 2x2 photographs of the applicant;
  • One (1) letter of favorable character testimony;
  • Two (2) letters of professional reference from individuals with knowledge of applicant's work in the appraisal field;
  • Favorable tax clearance letter from the Bureau of Internal Revenue;


Temporary Application Requires:

  • Completed certified application;
  • Three (3) 2x2 photographs of the applicant;
  • Current license from another jurisdiction in which applicant is licensed;
  • Letter of engagement or other documents to prove the client properties in the assignment;


Renewal of License:

  • Completed renewal application (available on back of license);
  • A Favorable Tax Clearance Letter from the V.I. Bureau of Internal Revenue;

EligibilityEdit

Applicant must be a resident of the U.S. Virgin Islands for at least thirty (30) days prior to submittal of application.



FeesEdit

  • Application Fee: $75.00
  • Certified General R.E. Appraisers: $390.00
  • Certified Residential R.E. Appraiser: $390.00
  • Temporary Real Estate Appraiser: $150.00



ValidityEdit

All permanent licenses are issued on an annual basis. Temporary licenses are issued for six (6) months.

InstructionsEdit

Examination:

All persons interested in being a licensed in any area of the Real Estate industry are required to sit an examination.

The exam is not currently offered in the Virgin Islands. You will need to contact DLCA to obtain a list of exam providers in other states where you may take the test.
