ProcedureEdit

Vehicle Registration

  1. Have your vehicle inspected, upon passing inspection, the Motor Vehicle seal shall be affixed onto the registration form and initialed by the inspector.
  2. Upon verification and payment of traffic tickets with the Superior Court, registration will then be updated. Customers are then required to pay the necessary fees before receiving the updated registration.

New Registration

  1. To those registering a new vehicle(s) for the first time you will need to present the Certificate of Title (photocopies will not be accepted unless it is presented with a lien placement letter).
  2. Make sure that the Highway Tax is paid as well as insurance. The names on all documents must correspond.

Late Registration

  1. In order for your vehicle to be allowed to come to the Bureau for inspection and registration when it is late, you (the owner) must first purchase a Special Permit from the BMV which permits the driver to move the vehicle from its location to a pre-designated point.
  2. A vehicle considered for late registration because said vehicle was undergoing repairs, an Affidavit for Late Registration must be purchased and notarized stating reason and noting that a certified mechanic can attest to the fact that the vehicle was under repair. This form may not necessarily prohibit the owner from paying the necessary late fees.

Duplicate Registration

  1. You must purchase and complete an affidavit stating the reason for obtaining a new copy, have it notarized.
  2. All duplicate copies of registration may be obtained by the registered owner after proof of identity is shown. In the event that the registered owner is unable to come in person, he/she may send a designee with a notarized letter giving authorization.
