In Montevideo

Office Hours:

  • Monday to Friday according to the initial letter of the name of the child:
    • From A to LL : from 7:30 to 12:00
    • From M to Z: from 13:00 to 17:30

Pereira Rossell Hospital, Canzani, Military or Clinics (when the birth occurred in these hospitals):

  • Monday to Friday: 09:30 to 13:00 hours.


Peace Courts

Office No. 14 at the Ciudad de la Costa,

Canelones: Av Giannattassio km. 18,300.

  • Office Hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 13:00

In the Office No. 15 in the City of Las Piedras : Railway and General Flores

  • Office Hours of 8:30 to 13:00


Note: Birth registration must be made ??within ten working days from birth, otherwise it will fall under late registered category. Registration after the deadline requires parents to present two witnesses over 18 years with valid identity card, and other additional requirements depending on the case. Registration must be done at the place of birth or where the parents resides.

  • Certificate of live birth
  • If the parents are married, marriage certificate and identity card of both parents.
  • If the parents are not married to each other, both parents must be present identification. In this case, the child is recognized by both parents.

The Directorate General of Civil Status Register is in charge of birth registration in Uruguay.
