Procedure

1. After purchasing a UAS/Drone and before operating it you will need to register the drone first. You will need to submit an application through the E-Services system General Civil Aviation Authority's (GCAA) website www.gcaa.gov.ae.
2. You will need to submit these documents:
   1. Attach valid Passport Copy
   2. Attach valid Emirates ID Copy
   3. Attach UAS/Drone colored Photo
3. The GCAA will review all documentation for registration process.
4. It will take about 12 working days for your application to be processed.
5. When the GCAA is satisfied that all the required information and submitted documents are in line with the requirements and are acceptable.
6. Once your application is approved by the GCAA, you will receive an email alone with UAS/Drone Registration Certificate.
7. Print the attached certificate, the certificate will be not valid unless it’s been stamped by the GCAA Licensing Department.

Organization Details (company operating the drone):

• Organization Name
• Type of Organization (private or government)
• Organization address
• Organization contact
• Name & contact number of accountable person
• Trade License No.
• Insurance details covering drone operations

Personal Details:

• Nationality
• Date of birth
• Passport No.
• Emirates ID No.
• Visa No. (if applicable)

Operational Details:

• Flying purpose in the UAE (private/commercial)
• Type of Operations (survey/media/inspection/etc.)
• Area of operations (provide Google map coordinates)
• Max Height of operations:
• Is the operation during day time or night time?

Drone Details

• Drone Engine Type (fuel or electrical)
• Drone Manufacturer name
• Drone Serial number
• Drone weight with payload
• Drone weight without payload
• Drone usage capability (survey, media, inspection, etc.)
• Means of drone control (autonomous or radio controlled)
• Is the drone equipped with a camera?
• If yes, please provide camera details

Terms and conditions:

• The organization shall ensure all drones are registered with the GCAA before intending to operate in the UAE
• The organization shall ensure no operations are conducted in the UAE without the GCAA ANA airspace user approval
• The organization shall ensure no operations are conducted in the UAE without the GCAA security approval
• The organization shall ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with the conditions/limitations stated by the GCAA
• The organization shall ensure no operations are conducted in the UAE without valid insurance coverage
• The organization shall ensure all drone operators are qualified for the intended operations and are registered with the GCAA
• The organization shall ensure that a risk assessment (e.g. weather, night/day, area of operations, safety to person on ground) is conducted prior to each flight.
• The organization shall ensure that any occurrence is reported to the GCAA
• The organization shall ensure that no flight jeopardizes safety, security and privacy to other airspace users, properties or persons
• The organization shall ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with the Civil Aviation, the GCAA publications and all other UAE government entities.
