Apply In-Person
- Application for registration for dealing in cotton seed is done in person by visiting the cotton development authority head offices.You can also contact the authority on the following link Cotton Development Authority
- Here you will be issued with an application form for registration for cotton seed to fill and submit.
- Fill in the required information properly and attach the required documents to the application before.
- Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee of Ugsh.100,000 and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
- This is followed by verification of the type of cotton seed by the crops inspection officer(s) from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
- Recommendations based in findings of the investigation will be made to the crops inspection officer(s) for final authority approval.
- At this point the applicant is notified if the cotton seed has been successfully accepted or which rectifications have to be made for the cotton seed to be registered.
- Upon a successful approval the applicant is notified and he/she will be required to pay the registration fee to the authority and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
- Once the registration process is done the cotton seed registration certificate is issued to the applicant.

- The prescribed fees Proof payment receipt.
- Present the certificate for health and safety
- Present the certificate for health insurance (optional)
- Present the certificate for weights and measures
- Provide particulars of the areas of operation
- Compliance to CDO Inspection Report recommendations on type of cotton seed
- Presentation of Measurement and Weighing
- Certificate by Uganda National Bureau of Standards.
- Compliance with laid down Quality control and Assurance Procedures on seed.

- Section 16 (1) (a) of the Cotton Development Act, Cap 30 makes provision for the registration of persons to undertake dealing in cotton seed for a registration.

- This document shall help to promote and safeuard the distribution of high quality cotton seed and generally to facilitate the development of the cotton industry in Uganda

- Failure to meet the registration or any conditions set in that regard requirement amounts to an offence, for which a person may be liable to a fine of Ugx.2 million or cancellation of registration.
- The Cotton Development Organization (CDO) is established under the Act, with the objective of promoting and monitoring the production and marketing of cotton and represents all aspects of the cotton industry
