Uganda - Register as Foreign Licensed-Nurses

Prior to practicing in Uganda, even in an educational or managerial role, any nurse or midwife who trained outside the country must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC).

Registration Certificate for foreign Nurse or Midwife can be obtained from Uganda Nurse and Midwives Council.
Fill up the appropriate application form as described by the Nurses and Midwife council.
Once you have successfully completed to fill the Form then attach your qualification in order to be able to register your qualification with the medical Council for interview.
Once a full set of documents have been provided to the UNMC you will be invited to attend for interview with the registration and enrollment committee –these normally take place the first Wednesday of the month;
Following the interview you will be required to undertake a period of supervised practice attachment prior to registration with the Uganda Nurse Midwife Council.
After successful completing the period of supervised practice filling the form proceed to pay the prescribed fee
Submit the dully filled in form attached with pay slip to the Nursing Officer in charge of Nurse and Midwife council.
Collect your Registration Certificate Licence from where your application was submitted within 14 days from the date the application was received at Uganda Nurse and Midwives Council in case there is no rejection.

Original certificate or professional ID with photocopy of the certificate for all qualifications.
Verification proof of your current license.
A transcript of training showing theoretical and clinical hours.
A brief CV outlining skills and experience.
Reference from present employer.

3 black and white passport photographs – 5cm x 5.5cm.
A copy of IELTS For candidates whose first language is not English.

FeesEdit

Interview of $50;
Registration fee is $200 per qualification for the first 3 years of practice in Uganda.
