Uganda - Obtain Nursery School Grade II License

ProcedureEdit

  1. To obtain a Nursery School Grade 11 License/Permit in Uganda the applicant has to approach the Town council/Division offices Education office.
  2. Pick the application form and fill all the required section as prescribed by the town council Authority.
  3. Pay the appropriate fees in the Bank before submission.
  4. Please make sure you have all the Minimum requirements that will be considered and these include;
    • The applicant must prove Ownership of Land on which the school is located.
    • The applicant must also attach details of the financial resources available for the school, like bank statements.
    • Also required is the number of staff going to run the Nursery school and their qualifications.
    • Evidence of access to recreational facilities, including sports fields
    • The management team or Board of Directors in case of private schools needs to be indicated.
    • Some schools do not own fields but it is permissible to bring evidence that you have permission to use recreational facilities that are within your reach or the school vicinity.This is especially for schools that might be situated within cities or towns.
  5. Once all the above minimum requirements are provided, the Nursery school grade 11 is given a provisional license/permit.This is done on condition that within a year, the school owner is supposed to put in place all the missing requirements and report back to the Town council/Division offices for an operational license/Permit.
  • Note A Nursery school grade 11 is different from Nursery school grade 1 in terms of Area location and required fees to be paid for the License/permit but the requirements remain the same at the Municipality level and Town/Division/trading centre level.

  • Clearance from Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives for Non-Nationals
  • Original Certificate of Incorporation of the Company for New Business
  • Original KCCA/Municipality/Town/City receipt for the previous year indicating existing business
  • Original rent and tenancy agreement from the Land lord for the new business
  • Original trading License for the previous year for already existing business

EligibilityEdit

Any person of 18 years carrying out business in Municipality/Division/Town/City/Kampala City Council Authority’s jurisdiction except those who are exempted under Section 8(2) of the Trade Licensing Act are eligible to obtain Trading license to operate a Nursery School Grade II

  • Names, Physical and Postal Address of Applicant
  • Legal Status of the Applicant
  • List and Particulars of Shareholders;( if any)
  • Certificate of Registration,
  • Certificate of Incorporation,
  • Memorandum and Articles of Association
  • Deed of Partnership,
  • Deed of Trust, as applicable
  • Information if the shareholder has ever been convicted of a criminal offence in Uganda or in any other country.
  • List and Particulars of Directors.
  • information if you have ever acquired a Licence and state the nature of the Licence, date issued and the Licence number

For the purposes of determining the fees payable in any city, municipality or town, the Minister shall, by statutory order, divide the area of any city, municipality or town into grades.

  • Grade I areas to comprise all industrial areas in the Municipality and District.
  • Grade II areas to comprise all areas outside Grade I areas in the Municipality.
  • Grade III areas comprise in the trading centres- in a District.
  • Grade IV areas that comprise outside the trading centres in the District.
