ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. To obtain a Flight Radio Telephony, one has to complete and submit the prescribed application form.
  2. This form can be obtained by visiting the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority offices.
  3. After filling the application documents required ,submit them to the UCAA office.
  4. You can also proceed to pay the prescribed application fees and submit the payment receipt to together with the application documents.
  5. An application fee of UgSh.50,000 is charged for the process.
  6. A processing time of 14 days is needed to complete the processing of the Flight Radio Telephony Licence, after which you will be contacted through a phone call to collect your new license at the UCAA offices.
  7. You will be required to carry your identification documents when collecting your new license.

  1. A properly completed prescribed Application Form
  2. A knowledge and Practical test results slip;
  3. Two (2) recent passport size photographs (full face) 2cm by 2.5cm;
  4. A photo Identification Card or Passport;
  5. The prescribed fees receipt of Ugshs. 50,000

EligibilityEdit

An applicant for a flight radio telephony operator license shall;

  1. Be at least seventeen (17) years of age;
  2. Have the ability to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
  3. Have undergone the relevant training and passed the written knowledge test for a radio telephony operator license the results of which are valid for twenty four months (2 years) after passing the examination.
  4. Demonstrate a level of knowledge appropriate to the privileges granted to a holder of a flight radiotelephone operator license in an oral examination done by the UCAA examiners

  • This license is valid for two (2) years from the date of application.

The applicant should:-

  1. Complete the prescribed application form,
  2. Submit all the required documents to the UCAA offices.
  3. Pay the applicable fees and submit the payment receipt.
  4. Wait for the processing period to elapse then collect your new license.

  7. Particulars of licences already held (Place and Date of Issue , Type of Licence, Number and Expiry Date )
  8. Whether you have met all the requirements for the issuance of this licence

  11. Date of Application


Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The Flight Radio Telephony Operator's License (FRTOL) authorizes you to operate an Aircraft Radio Station in a Ugandan registered aircraft.
  • The license is held in conjunction with another Flight Crew license.


Information which might helpEdit

  • Present a photo Identification Card or a Passport as a form of identification, details of which should be the same as the personal information provided on the prescribed application form; and if the applicant’s identity cannot be verified, the application will be rejected, and the applicant will have to return with the proper identification.
  • A holder of a flight radio telephony operator license shall have the privilege to use the radio telephone on board .
