The Coffee Nursery Certificate is issued by the respective district government in consultation with the Uganda Coffee Development Authority.
Apply In-Person
- Application for a Coffee Nursery Certificates is done in person by visiting the Coffee Development Head Offices or their field offices in the Districts.
- Here you will be issued with an Application for registration of a coffee nursery form to fill and submit.
- Fill in the required information and attached the required documents. These include:
- Identification Cards/ Passport and PIN Number of the applicant
- A certified copy of certificate of incorporation/registration;
- A certified copy of memorandum and articles of association/ constitution
- Copy of title deed or certificate of leasehold of duration of lease of not less than six years as proof of ownership or proprietorship and a current certificate of search or other supporting documents.
- Names and address of Directors.
- Proof of Reliable source of clean water
- Proof accessibility of nursery site for inspection and materials transportation
- Any other requirements that may be prescribed by the Authority from time to time
- Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee of and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
- This is followed by an inspection of applicants farm/facilities by the Authority field Officers
- After investigations the Authority’s field offices will submit their findings to the county coffee working group.
- The coffee working group will make recommendations on the application and forward their report to Coffee Development Authority Headquarters for the ultimate Board approval.
- Upon a successful approval the Coffee Nursery Certificates applicant is notified and he/she will be required to pay a license fee to the board and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
- Once the license processing is done the Coffee Nursery Certificates is posted to field offices for collection by the applicant

Any person, cooperative society, group or company can apply for a Coffee nursery certificate.

•The certificate is valid for a period of one year and the certificate expires on the 30th June of every year.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A coffee nursery certificate authorizes the holder to operate a coffee nursery.
- This is a certificate issued to a grower who want to raise coffee planting materials (seedlings) for own planting or for sale for commercial gain.
Information which might helpEdit
- Coffee licenses in the coffee industry expire by the 30th of June of every year and license holders apply to the Authority for renewal one month prior to the expiry.
- New license applicants apply any time within the financial year for consideration and licensing.
- Applicants can deliver or send hard copies of the application to the Coffee Development Authority offices countrywide. Details of the various offices can found in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
- In Uganda no person shall, for commercial purposes buy, sell, pulp, mill, warehouse, export or otherwise deal in or transact any business in coffee unless he holds a current license issued by the Authority or the respective County Government for that purpose.
