Applying process in Timor-Leste (East Timor) for citizen and non citizen.
- A. Apply in-person.
- Applicant shall apply for Police Clearance Certificate in-person with “Office of Civil Registrations”.

- Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents. Applicant should pay for any charges, if required as advised.

- Applicant shall mandate a authorized representative to apply on their behalf at the “Office of Civil Registrations”.

- Representative should carry required documents and the completed application form and go to the respective office.

- Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
- The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
- Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

- date of birth,
- identification number,

- the alien's country of birth and,
- citizenship,

- name and maiden name of mother.
Need for the DocumentEdit
A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.
Police certificate is also known as good citizen certificate, good conduct certificate, police clearance certificate, or judicial record extracts. Applicants may have to submit fingerprints and certain personal information to request a criminal record check, and the police or government agency may charge a fee. If no record found, the police certificate will indicate such.
In many immigration cases you may be requested by relevant Government to present Police Clearance Certificate from another country where you have resided for some time. If you are going through immigration process, you will definitely be asked for such a certificate.

The Department of Civil and Criminal Identification is the service responsible for collecting, processing and storing individualizing elements of every citizen, in order to establish their civil and criminal identity.
The Department of Civil and Criminal Identification:
- Issuing identity cards, passports, border pass, certificate of good behavior and provide the necessary support for registries in the exercise of its powers in civil identification and criminal record;
- Organize and update the central file civil identification, border passes and passports;
- Sign up and issue the Certificate of criminal record, as well as providing information relating thereto;
- Organize and maintain files and updated data from criminal records
- To collect the necessary statistical information processing and integrated data from criminal records;
- Ensure, protect, secure storage, the security and confidentiality of all documents in civil identification, criminal records, passports and passes the border;
- Develop all activities related to the process of issuing passports service, ordinary passports, passports for foreigners and border passes;
- Perform other duties as assigned by law or delegated by the Country Director.
