South Africa - Online Register a Non-Profit Company

Note: Currently, you can only register private and non-profit companies with standard memorandum of incorporation; all other company types must be filed manually.
Step 1 : First one has to make sure that all the required documents are in hand to apply online. If you would like to know about the documents that are required for this procedure, please visit the following link : Required Documents to Register a Non-Profit Company
Step 2 : In order to apply for registering a Non-profit company online, click on the following link: Apply Online
Step 3 : In the page that opens, click “CUSTOMER REGISTRATION” option which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image on the left side.

Step 4 : In the ID number verification page, answer the yes or no question as applicable. Click “YES” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image if you have South African ID or “NO” button which is highlighted in “Green” in the below image if not.

Step 5 : If yes, you will have to enter the "ID number" and your "Surname" in the relevant fields and click “CONTINUE” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image.

Step 6 : If not, you will have to enter your "Passport number" and click “CONTINUE” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image.

Step 7 : In the next page, enter all the Personal Details and Contact Information and click “Register” button. Registration success message and your customer code will be displayed in the next page. Click “Continue” button to proceed.
Step 8 : In the next page, you will have to create a password for your account. Type the password that you want in the relevant and update any of the already entered details if you want, as applicable and click “Update” button.
Step 9 : Update success message will appear. To make a company registration, you have to load money in your account by clicking “Balance Top-up” button. Select the applicable option in the next page and click “Add to cart” button.
Step 10 : Now, click “Pay Now” button, enter the card details, click “Pay now” button and proceed to make payment as directed.
Step 11 : After payment, click “Transact” button on the top right corner of the homepage. Select “Name Reservations” option from the options available and select “Proposed Names” button in the next page.
Step 12 : Enter at least one or a maximum of four proposed names for the enterprise, in order of preference. Click on “Submit Proposed Name” button. A screen will display, indicating if the exact name test was successful or not.
Step 13 : If the test for one of the proposed names was not successful, it will be indicated with a cross. Click on “Back” button and propose another name if you want to add another name. Then, click on “Lodge Name Reservation” button.
Step 14 : The next screen will indicate that the proposed name(s) has been lodged, and provide you with a tracking number. Click on either “Back to Name Reservations” button or on “Home” button.
Step 15 : After name reservation, click “Company Registration” option in the homepage. Select the portal type through which you want lodge the application.
Step 16 : Then, select the type of company from the drop-down in the next page and then fill the details about the company and the directors as required further and click “Continue” button.
Step 17 : Then, fill other details of the directors as required and click “Save” button, proceed to fill the details of the company and click “Save” button.
Step 18 : You can also complete the Name reservation process after completing the registration application process just as before. Once the name has been successfully reserved, confirmation of such reservation will be e-mailed.
Step 19 : If you have already reserved the name for your company, click on any other applicable option and proceed. A success message will be displayed if your company registration has been filed.
Step 20 : An email will be sent to the email address that you provided, indicating that a request to register a company has been lodged, and that a separate email with to document for all directors to sign has been sent to the customer logged in.
Step 21 : The second email will indicate all required supporting documentation needed for registration. Print the e-mailed forms and have indicated directors and incorporators sign at the indicated places.
Step 22 : Send the signed form and required supporting documents to eServicesCoReg@cipc.co.za or click on “document upload” option in the “Transact” page and click “Company Registration documents” option and upload the documents, for the process to be completed.
Step 23 : Once the registration is finalised, the customer will receive an email confirming that the company is registered and a directive back to the CIPC website to retrieve the disclosure certificate and Incorporation (MOI) documents.
