South Africa - Online Register a Design

Step 1 : First one has to make sure that all the required documents are in hand to apply online. If you would like to know about the documents that are required for this procedure, please visit the following link : Required Documents to Register a Design

Step 2 : To apply for registering a design online, click on the following link: Apply Online

Step 3 : In the page that opens, click “CUSTOMER REGISTRATION” option which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image on the left side.

Step 4 : In the ID number verification page, answer the yes or no question as applicable. Click “YES” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image if you have South African ID or “NO” button which is highlighted in “Green” in the below image if not.

Step 5 : If yes, you will have to enter the "ID number" and your "Surname" in the relevant fields and click “CONTINUE” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image.

Step 6 : If not, you will have to enter your "Passport number" and click “CONTINUE” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image.

Step 7 : In the next page, enter all the Personal Details and Contact Information and click “Register” button. Registration success message and your customer code will be displayed in the next page. Click “Continue” button to proceed.

Step 8 : In the next page, you will have to create a password for your account. Type the password that you want in the relevant and update any of the already entered details if you want, as applicable and click “Update” button.

Step 9 : Update success message will appear. After that you can use the Customer code created and password to login in the following link: Link Enter the details respectively and click “Log in” button which is highlighted in “Red” in the below image.

Step 10 : In “Select Profile Settings” tab, select the applicable option and click “Save” button. Click “OK” button in the dialogue that appears and proceed to login again. After logging in, place cursor on “designs” tab and select “Apply for design” option from the list.

Step 11 : Introduction page will appear, read out the content once and click “Proceed” button. Complete the “Form D1 and D2” tab with required actions and click “Next” button.

Step 12 : Then, complete “Form D6” tab by filling statements fields and uploading drawings and supporting documents as required, then click “Next” button and complete “Form D8” tab as required, then click “Next” button.

Step 13 : Then, click “Add request” button in the next tab, enter the details and click “Save” button. And click “Next button. Complete the “attachments” tab as required.

Step 14 : Once completed, click “Submit” button. In the dialogue that appears, estimated cost will be displayed, note it down, also read the content and click “Proceed” button to lodge the application.

Step 15 : Then, you will receive an application reference number to your registered email address which you should use for further enquiries about the application progress.
