Step 1: Register with IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA)

  1. To Register with International Air Transport Association, an airline must be on the IOSA registry before IATA Membership can be approved.
  2. The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) is an internationally accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
  3. IATA oversees the accreditation of Audit Organizations and Endorsed Training Organizations, ensures continuous development of the IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices, and manages the central database of IOSA Audit Reports.
  4. IATA also implements effective quality assurance to ensure overall program standardization and ensures that the program is meeting airline needs as effectively as possible.
  5. The applicant has to download and complete the IOSA audit application form using the following link link
  6. Applicant must fill in all the necessary details in the application form (Incomplete forms are not accepted)
  7. After completion of application, send it to the following email iosa@iata.org
  8. The IOSA Team will contact you for the next steps.
  9. Then pay the non-refundable fee of USD 1000 as per the authority advice.
  10. Successful completion of an IOSA will result in addition to the IOSA registry. A list of all IOSA registered airlines is available at [www.iata.org/registry. Link]



Step 2: IATA Membership Registration

  1. Airlines that are already on the IOSA registry, have closed an audit or the audit is nearing closure can submit the membership application.
  2. The applicant has to email an request for membership application form using the following email airlinemembership@iata.org
  3. After receiving the application, fill in all the necessary details. (Incomplete forms will be rejected)
  4. Attach the copies of required documents that are mentioned in “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Email the application form IATA Membership team.
  6. Once the application form and all required documents are received and accepted, the membership office will advise the annual dues applicable and send an invoice to the applicant airline for payment. For ICH participants, invoices will be prepared for ICH settlement and submitted automatically. All other applicants should pay via bank transfer within 30 days of the date on the invoice.
  7. The fee details are mentioned in “Fees” section of this page.
  8. Once all admission criteria have been met, the Membership Office submits the application for approval. All applications are subject to approval by the Director General upon the IATA Board of Governors delegation.
  9. This entire process can be completed within 2 -3 months or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

  • IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) application form - link
  • A copy of the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), together with the Operational Specifications issued by the State of Registry.
  • A copy of the Certificate of Registration or Business License with appropriate authority in the country of registration.
  • Traffic statistics for the preceding two years (to calculate the annual dues applicable).
  • If the applicant does not participate in the IATA Settlement Systems (ISS) (ICH/BSP/CASS) it will need to provide an Independent Auditor’s report related to the most recent Financial Statements for the applicant airline (not more than 15 months old). These must be certified by a chartered or public accountant. For new airlines, a business plan prepared by a chartered or public account is acceptable.
