ProcedureEdit
- The applicant must have a valid fishing license before applying for fishermen accident insurance. The insurance can be availed only by fisherman/fisherwoman who are licensed/registered with the state/UT government.
- Applicants must get their fishing gear such as fishing rods, nets, reels, fishing lines, hooks, vessels, etc registered with the Directorate of Fisheries of the state before applying for fishermen accident insurance.
- The applicant must be an active fisherman/fisherwoman to apply for the insurance.
- Fishermen Accident Group Insurance which includes Fisherman/Fisherwoman is a group accident insurance for active fishermen.
Apply In-Person (Via Department of Fisheries)
- Applicants must visit the offices or sub-offices of Department of Fisheries in your respective districts to apply for “Fishermen Accident Group Insurance”. Contact Link
- Collect the “ Fishermen Accident Group Insurance” form from the office of fisheries.
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
- Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.
- The verification officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
- Collect the acknowledgement/receiving slip and keep it safe for future reference.
- The application will be processed further internally by the concerned authorities.
- Once it is processed, and the insurance documents are ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.
- The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip along with them when going to collect the documents from the office or sub-office of the Department of Fisheries of their respective district.

- Applicants must visit the offices of the state level, district level or primary level cooperative federation of fisheries/fisherman to apply for “Fishermen Accident Group Insurance”. [Refer to the office locations and contacts section of this page for address details.]
- Collect the renewal form for “Fishermen Accident Group Insurance” from the office of fisheries.
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
- Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.

- Applicant must be a fisherman/fisherwoman by caste or by occupation.
- Applicant must be between the age group of 18 to 60 years.
- Applicant must have a fishing license under the State/UT government.
- Applicant must be a citizen of India.
- Applicant must be a resident of the State/UT.
FeesEdit
- No application fee is charged from the fishermen to apply for Fisherman Group Accident Insurance.
ValidityEdit
- The insurance cover under the Fisherman Accident Group Insurance will be for 12 months.

- “Fishermen Accident Group Insurance” is a group insurance policy issued by the Insurance Company in favour of FISHCOPFED (National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives Ltd) and sponsoring agency for all the fishermen, fishermen members sponsored for the insurance.
- FISHCOPFED (National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives Ltd) is the apex organization of fishermen cooperatives in India.
- Sponsoring Agency is an organization that offers group insurance to its members. Sponsor Agency can be a State Government / UT Government / Cooperative Society / Federation of Fishermen / Fisheries / Fish farmers or any such organizations registered under the State /UT Government or FISHCOPFED.
- Fishermen include a fisherman/fisherwoman by caste or by profession licensed/registered with the State /UT government.
- Fishermen member is a fisherman/fisherwoman who is an enrolled member of a registered cooperative society/organization of fisheries/ Federation of Fishermen / Fisheries etc.
- The annual premium per fisherman under the scheme is INR 15 per head.
- 50% of the premium will be paid by the Central Government as a subsidized grant-in-aid and the remaining 50% by the State Government.
- In the case of Union Territories, 100% premium will be paid by the Central Government as a subsidized grant-in-aid.
- The applicant will be insured for INR 50,000 against accidental death and permanent total disability
- The applicant will be insured for INR Rs 25,000 against partial permanent disability.
- No contribution to the premium will be collected for fishermen.
- The scheme will cover fishermen involved in both marine and inland fishing.
