Apply In-Person:
- The document writer license is issued by the licensing authority of the state. I.e., the Registrar of each district.
- The application form for document writer’s license i.e., “Form 1” should be obtained from the Licensing Authority of the district concerned. Address Link
- The license is provided based on the need of the document writer in the registration office.
- The number of document writer is fixed by the District Registrar along with the concern from the Sub-Registrar of the district concerned.
- If there are excess document writer in an office, the Registrar has the right to cancel the existing license of an individual.
- The application “FORM 1” needs to be filled and submitted along with the fee receipt.
- The complete fee details are mentioned below in the “Fees” section of this page.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The filled application should be submitted to the Licensing authority along with necessary fee receipt.
- The challan receipt should be attached along with the filled in application.
- The registrar can accept or reject the application after checking the eligibility criteria and will intimate the candidate.
- If the applicant is eligible, then the document writers license will be approved and issued to the applicant by the Registrar of the respective district.

- An attested copy of the last examination certificate.
- Type Writing Certificate (If any)
- Occupational Proof (If any)
- Proof of fee payment – Challan Receipt in the name of Treasury

EligibilityEdit
To obtain the document writer license,
- The individual must able to draw up a clear and concise document in the official language of the place where he practices as a document writer.
- If an Individual has a working knowledge of law that is related to Stamps and Registration of documents, then it is an additional bonus for granting license.
- Preferences are given to individual who knows Typing.
- The individual should not be less than 20 years of age.
- The individual should be of good character.
- The individual should have passed the Higher Secondary/ High School Education or its equivalent.
FeesEdit
The fees are refundable if the license is not granted or renewed by the licensing authority.
- The document writer license fee is Rs.50. (Should be paid every year)
- The license fee has to be paid to the Sub-Registrar concerned.
ValidityEdit
- The license is valid for a period of 3 years.
- The license can be renewed for a period of another 1 – 3 years by paying renewal application fee.
- The license renewal application has to be made at least one month before the expiry date.

- After receiving the document writer’s license, the licensee should not employ an assistant for any part of his work.

The details to be filled in the application form are:
- Applicants Name
- Full Address
- Date of Birth
- Name of the Registration office where the applicant desires to practice
- Educational Qualification
- Whether he knows typing
- The language or languages with which the applicant is conversant
- Whether he possesses a type-writer or undertakes to possess one or grant of license, within a period of ..............months.
- Present occupation, if any
- If in Government service or in the employment of a legal practitioner, whether the applicant is prepared to resign on grant of license
- Whether convicted of any criminal offence or removed from Government service (Give the particulars of criminal offence and removal from service).

- Signature

- The government employee, Legal Practitioner, or a Clerk of a legal practitioner, who is currently in service cannot act as a Document writer in Uttar Pradesh.
